Hello!

Yesterday, I had a friend of mine coming over to see if we could make a new song together. Let me briefly take you to the process of how this looks from the beginning, until the end.

AS FIRST, a good bottle of Cognac will have it's profit, so usually, I go for Hennessee or something of a similar quality.

Actually, it is something that started 10+ years ago... I went for the first time to a recording studio of a quite famous local 'Producer/Rapper' in the Netherlands. Once I arrived, the first thing we did was opening a bottle of 'Dramboui', which is a quite nice but heavy tasting liqueur.

Going back to the process...

First, we needed to select one of the instrumentals available. Of course, I work together with stunning beatmakers all over the world, so, I always have a folder with 10+ licensed beats available to select and after listening to a few of them, she selected a nice 'pop-ish' kind of one.

So, now, the subject.... mostly, when selecting a beat, I look for the chorus part of the song, as this is how I define if the beat suits my voice, and in this case, hers. When listening to the chorus, I try to find a way of connecting with the beat, and once I have found a way to flow on it, I start writing on it what comes on my mind at that moment. The first 2 lines I write, are mostly defining the subject to write further on, what also happened in this case

It took only 10 minutes to write the first part of the chorus with the result below:

No matter what I do in life,
cause everything I touch turns to gold I swear it.
Whatever you think, whatever you say,
whatever you do it won't matter

The reason why this came up like that, is because I remember friends saying to me that everything I do, is successful or very talented... Also, there are always people who are trying to get at you on the background, trying making you fail, which in my opinion, is sad, and even beside of this, won't catch me at all..

Anyway, we started recording the first part. Usually how I do this is to record the part first myself just to give an idea and feeling of how I expect it to be and then, to let her just sing over it and remove my voice afterward. Of course, it took some additional vocal coaching as this lady definitely can sing, but never did this anymore since she was still a kid, besides singing in the shower at least, hehe.

After mixing this part, I started directly to write the second part of the chorus as I had something in my head already over the past 30 minutes... I wanted to find a balance between the first and second part of the chorus, so I came up with the following:

Cause I grew up with fighting,
and I don't mind, when it suddenly comes down
Cause I will back it up by myself,
I don't need someone like you around

So, in this case, I think the message is very clear and defines a situation most of us have been in... This is something I really like, to either make a song completely made up in a world of fantasies or just facing the reality, written based on own experiences.

We recorded this part as well and included some nice additions to it.

But, I can tell you, in my opinion, she NAILED it!!

I am quite sure I have got your interest now, and am sure that you would like to hear the result, as it is impossible to imagine her voice, the instrumental, the entire song... I know :) Well, I totally understand, so, I will create a new post later today with only this part of the song... just because I would love to hear your the opinion of my colleague Steemians as first, before I will finalize the song and release it officially.
