The Dark Side of Johnny Cash

in #music7 years ago

I've listened to Johnny Cash since I was a child. I grew up listening to his signature song "Ring of Fire". I still get a thrill out of listening to it today. The song takes me back in time. A slower pace of living

.

I picked up this book about Johnny's life and Im enjoying reading about all of his travels while being an entertainer. For you readers, who don't know who Johnny Cash is...he's a classic country music singer. He's known as the man in black.

Even though he's been dead for about 15 years, his music is making a come back for the new generation of music lovers. He sings songs about the hardships and trials of life.

He was a good man, but he had a dark side to him that some people don't know about. I'll tell you. He traveled the USA from coast to coast for over 40 years putting on shows to entertain all kinds of people. Don't you think that lifestyle would get old after awhile and wear a person out? I know it's got to be hard on the body and a family man like Johnny. I'm sure the glamour of fame and fortune must not last for too many years without human suffering.

So, Johnny turned to pain pills, hard drugs and alcohol to deal with all the stress of being a big time entertainer. During his dark days, when he checked into a motel room, he often cut up the furniture and painted the motel room black. It got to the point where many hotels and motels didn't want to rent a room to him anymore. But Johnny always paid for the damage that he caused.

He passed away in 2003. I still miss him!

He recorded one last album shortly before he died. It was called "Hurt". Maybe I will learn how to embed a youtube of Hurt on DLive for you to enjoy. I'll let you know soon!
