Kanye West was at the TMZ headquarterds earlier today. Kanye being Kanye upset someone at TMZ.

A staff member of TMZ, Van Lathan, got heated and argued with Kanye West after Ye stated that slavery was a choice.

Kanye states, " When you hear about slavery for 400 years, that sounds like a choice.

Like, you was there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all? It’s like we’re mentally in prison. I like the word prison, because slavery goes too direct to the idea of blacks. It’s like slavery, Holocaust, Holocaust, Jews. Slavery is blacks. So prison is something that unites us as one race, the human race."

Kanye then spoke about free thought and Van Lathan argued right after; Van says,

“I actually don’t think you’re thinking anything,” Lathan said. “I think what you’re doing right now is actually the absence of thought.”

“Kanye, you’re entitled to your opinion, you’re entitled to believe whatever you want, but there is fact and real life consequence behind everything that you just said,” Lathan continued. “While you are making music and being an artist, and living the life that you’ve earned by being a genius, the rest of us in society have to deal with these threats to our lives.”

“We have to deal with the marginalization that has come from 400 years of slavery that you said, for our people, was a choice,” he added. “Frankly, I’m disappointed, I’m appalled, and brother, I am unbelievably hurt by the fact that you have morphed into something, to me, that’s not real.”

Do you all miss the old Kanye? Or like this one better?

Do you all think he is just wilding out because he has two albums on the way?

GOd bless Kanye, listen to the whole interview

At least he didn't try to piss on anyone like R Kelly

Lol
He's clearly being himself, and I like him for that...even though one will not always agree with his actions and opinions

Mk Ultra. This is the same guy who said "George Bush hates black people." Man his music in the early two thousands. That man was woke an conscious of the world . Definitely miss the old Kanye. Now hes just brainwashed it seemed like. MK ultra. MInd Control. I remember kanye being hospitalized unwillingly. Just a theory, Right? Maybe we can look at like this, The evolution of Jay-Z and Kanye just show you the incredible influence a Mans wife can have on his life ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Never liked him, but his situation now is just another sign of the absolute cancer within the political left. If you don't follow their beliefs, you are demonized, especially in this case since the guy is so well known and made comments against the status quo. This just truly shows who the real divisive side is.

Kanye West had no idea what he is talking about. “400 year of slavery is a choice ?” Well, it’s ONLY A MAD MAN WILL ARGUE WITH THE ONE THAT CARRY GUNS. so 400 yrs of slavery isn’t a choice it’s a force which you can’t resist with a gun pointed to your head to do what you do not had to do. KANYE I AM DISSAPOINTED IN YOU! Fool!

MKGA! MAKE KANYE GREAT AGAIN!

I think (like almost everything in life) you can find the nuances in kanye's statements. First off I will start with the critiques kanye has a platform that gives him responsibility of his words. Yes it is his right to speak freely however his words have a lot of power so true maturity would require that he fully form his opinions before spouting them so openly. That is his burden as an influential person who is privileged to live in a way that the majority of the world is not able to.

Secondly i believe his statement was meant to mean the idea of mental control before Kanye made that five alarm slavery is a choice statement he said that from birth we are taught how to think showing an example of the mental control society has formed us into and through current examples such as religion, political parties, nationalism etc we see how poisonous this type of thinking is to enlightenment and unity. When you are controlled with fear you seemingly have no choices it's highly effective to control someones thoughts and actions. Which again is made evident in how everyone seems to have very similar life paths high school➡️college➡️9-5➡️retirement at 65+. our minds are excellent at creating insurmountable obstacles that make it harder to break free from this illusion. We create cycles of thought that imprison us whether it's the thought that racism disadvantages us or other cultures are disadvantaging us as "real americans".

Finally what i see kanye's end goal is to help us see that we can find more commonalities than differences if we changed our way of thinking. If you refuse to see someone else's perspective and find yourself putting the full blame on them know that this is projecting as is a clear sign you are not aware of yourself and what is your purely formed opinion and one expertly formulated by societies method of control. Change your perspective of others and be more concerned with connecting and learning from others to promote growth. That is the greatest lesson Kanye sought to teach, hopefully he can reflect and realize better ways of promoting this important lesson.
