Ice storm or not, we still rock! Kira Hooks put on a great show at Our HOUSE. Open mic returned to Manhattan on Wednesday, this time hosted by the VFW (they will continue to host on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month). Liquid Art Winery continued their Winter Music Series and Manhattan regular Fret Highway held down The Hideaway in Salina.

Tuesday 1/17:

@9:00pm Rock For Water Benefit Show! at Auntie Mae's Parlor

Come see Manhattan favorites Jade Archetype and Charlie Roberts as they play a benefit show for protesters of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Do you value clean drinking water? Do you value local music? Do you value your Tuesday nights? This is the place to be!

@6:00pm Rich Yarges and The Pop Mechanics In Store at Sisters of Sound

Drawing influence from the big pop groups of the past, The Pop Mechanics list influences such as Buddy Holly, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Big Star, Ramones, and The Replacements. Enjoy this Minnesota based band in an intimate setting before sliding over the Auntie Mae's and catching them again at 9:00pm.

In case you didn't get enough at Sisters of Sound, the Pop Mechanics will move down the street to Auntie Mae's and play another set, this time joined by Headlight Rivals and Dave Spiker.

Luke combines old-timey Mississippi delta blues, folk music, traditional jazz, and roots rock & roll. Named best blues performer in Gambit Magazine’s Best of New Orleans.

@9:00pm Aaron Traffas Band at The Four Points by Sheraton

This is a public show to follow the Kansas Auctioneers Association banquet.

The Aaron Traffas Band is alternative country band based out of Lawrence. They draw on influences such as Ryan Adams, Rhett Miller, Jay Farrar and Mike McClure. ATB plays a unique style of original, alternative country music which is blended into an anti-Nashville concoction representing both the No Depression and Red Dirt scenes.

The sisters are doubling down this week with a full day of music planned for Saturday. Tons of highly talented acts will be performing so anytime you are free between 11:00am-6:45pm definitely stop by! Full lineup is below:

@7:00pm BlackHawk ft. Dillon Ray at RC McGraws

Multi-platinum-selling country group BlackHawk is Henry Paul (guitar, mandolin and vocals) and Dave Robbins (keyboards and vocals). They along with third founding member Van Stephenson exploded on to the country music landscape in 1993 with their debut smash "Goodbye Says It All".

@7:30pm Carrie Nation & the Speakeasy w/ Serenity Stringband at The Columbian Theatre (Wamego)

The high energy, acoustic brass 'n grass band, Carrie Nation & the Speakeasy, will bring a mix of punk, bluegrass and dixieland music full of solos and driving rhythms.

Abilene, KS based bluegrass band, Serenity Stringband, will open the show.
