Great song, great band, enough said (but yes, I'm still going to say more).

First off, you might wonder why "Christianity" is one of the tags for this post, when Thrice is a 'secular' rock band. Well, it's because their lead singer, Dustin Kensrue, is an outspoken Christian who's beliefs are clearly inlaid in the songs he writes, whether this is for Thrice or for his solo project, The Modern Post. "Black Honey" is no exception to this. In fact, it may be the clearest example of it.

The song's message is essentially that of a man swinging his hand through a swarm of bees because he wants honey on his table. He can't understand why he's getting stung, why he feels pain when he does this harmful action, but he keeps doing it, over and over again, until he has what he needs. Sounds like what we do alot in our day-to-day lives, doesn't it? Obviously not in the literal sense, but I'd say that the message of the song is pretty clear. Many of the ways in which we go about something to get a desired result are harmful, whether to ourselves and/or those around us, and we need to look for other ways that are healthier for everyone involved (clearly the point that Kensrue is trying to make here is that the answer to this is only found in Jesus Christ).

Anyways, this song is pretty amazing, and you should listen to it. Why don't you scroll down and listen to it right now?

You should do another artist spotlight :)

That's not the worst idea haha. If I get more time I'll start doing some more of those!
