Iron_Maiden_(album)_cover.jpg

so i got into this band in 1985. i first heard them in 1984 aces high on shitty cassette recorder in grade 5 music class it sounded terrible but tape player was crap.so gave it the benefit of the doubt cause i like the name of the band and cool art work,so year went by and iron maiden live after death came out listen to that album was floored how good they were.

so i quickly purchased the back catalog and reviewing the first album.

this came out in april 14th of 1980 on EMI and few months later in north america on capitol records
produced by will malone

band members Founder Steve Harris Bass
Dave Murray Guitar
Dennis Stratton Guitar
Clive Burr Drums
Paul Di'anno Vocals

Cover Art Derrick Riggs

1980 was one hell of year for metal albums with black sabbath -heaven and hell, judas priest-british steel.acdc-back in black. and many others

but 1 band stood out from rest with a Epic Sound like no one had ever heard before well some of the songs were on
the 1979 version ep of sound house tapes iron maiden ,invasion, prowler there was strange world also was recorded in 79 left off the album has a different guitar solo then whats on studio release.

the first song on the album

Prowler - a raw guitar attack gritty edgy song this song is about a flasher that flashes his parts to women on street.

Sanctuary - about being chased by the law has sirens in the song very quick single straight forword kinda song

Remember Tomorrow - a Power ballad beautiful tones this song was about world war 2 and bombings di'anno nailed this song.

Running Free - very good bass line here also was confused by lyrics says disco hop but to me it sounds like dicks go hard
the song is about hitch hiking 16 year old explores the country and is running free fairly straight ahead
song they play this in alot of concerts

Phantom of the Opera

This is the song i fell in love with its my favorite song by them and favorite song of all time it blows away everything about adventures of phantom of the opera we all know story..Orgasmic Explosion to the Ears this song is simply amazing the guitar solos are blazing the song feels thrashy at times would loved to see them play this live back in 1980 it just blows my mind how steve harris wrote this masterpiece in 1980 this song takes my breath away please play this at my funeral
its just straight out epic must listen.!!!

Translyvania - edgy hard hitting only instrumental song on the album. song is inspired on dracula story the time changes in there music and this song is really noticeable along with amazing melodies oh soo good and it winds into strange world

Strange World - 2nd best song on the album this is moody and tones and bass is deep listen to this song you hear bits of it in empire of the clouds. guitar solos are mesmerizing if you get high on weed listen to this song .i could be wrong thought the story revolves around this movie Zardoz (1974) with sean connery alot of there music is based on old movies and books. its a very mellow relaxing song in my top 10 for sure.

Charlotte The Harlot - a song about prostitution there is 2 songs made after this they all connect 22 accacia avenue and wasted love pretty much straight ahead song but it does have a nice mellow slow part bluesy in parts .

Iron Maiden - the last song on album a fan favorite at concerts "Oh Well, wherever, wherever you are Iron Maiden's gonna get you, no matter how far" this is basically what happends to people listen to maiden they got us.

Amazing album and 15 more left there still around and dominate as ever steve harris is a genuius
he is the mozart of modern era they don't get radio airplay that other bands do but they are metal legends
up the Irons from eddie and the boys!

Sort:
