Backstreet Boys is an American boy band formed in Orlando, Florida, in 1993. The band is formed by A. J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, Nick Carter and Kevin Richardson. Richardson left the band in 2006, but returned to the band in 2012. They rose to fame with their debut album, Backstreet Boys (1996). The following album, Backstreet's Back (1997) continued with the group's success all over the world. They came to stardom with their album Millennium (1999) and the next album, Black & Blue (2000). After a break of three years, the band has released five albums (one along with the New Kids on the Block): Never Gone (2005), Unbreakable (2007), This Is Us (2009), NKOTBSB (2011) and In A World Like This (2013). The band has sold more than 135 million albums worldwide, making them one of the groups with the highest recorded sales in the history of music. They are considered the most important and influential male pop band in the history of music. According to Billboard, they are the first group since Sade to get their first seven albums in the top 10 on that list.
