TRACK2TRACK: BOSS UP

I've never seen a worker rock so many jewels (never!). This is undoubtedly the boss Jay-Z talking his boss talk on the record "Bam". Nowadays the lines between who's really running the show and someone who is just putting on a show are getting more and more blurred. In many cases it isn't the loudest person in the room. But everyone wants to be a boos right? But as Jay-Z states again, "Everybody's bosses 'til it's time to pay for the office. 'Til them invoices, separate the men from the boys". 1st Verse is an artist who is also challenging all those who talk the boss talk, to walk the boss walk."

If you gon boss up, boss up. it's this one line that says everything. The statement is simple, and straight to the point. And If you're a boss you appreciate that, because time is money, But for anyone that knows 1st Verse knows that even this simple line is a complex layered bar that will come full circle in an unexpected way. 1st Verse has proven his boss status by doing what others can't. His new album called "VSXO" has defied all odds by selling purely in it's physical CD form. XSXO, dubbed the $30 copy has been reminiscent of the mixtape era of music where guerrilla grass roots marketing helped fund million dollar independent labels like No Limit Records and Swisha House. Making 1st Verse either the greatest salesperson in the history of Tulsa rap or the greatest album to ever come out of Tulsa. Either titles would not be far fetched.

I had to get out that shit that I was into
Pain can override the mental, drive like this is not a rental
Preparation for the destination that I gotta get to
Word to Hakeem, I need me a wop before they stop the fiscal

"Boss Up" is the 2nd single of 1st Verse's new album "VSXO" which was released in October of 2019. The 14th track album is the epitome of the years that 1st Verse has put into his career. His skills are sharpened by years of grinding from stage to stage. His postion solidified among the Tulsa legends. But it's the new sounds from young producers like ChasingRyann that have rejuvenated him and created a fire in him that he had when he first got in the game. When he had something to prove. Boss Up is him knowing his worth and knowing that his name should be mentioned with the greats to ever do it. "Read Ta-Nehisi and listen to Garvey, tryna do better I'm not thinking arbys".

If 1st Verse's lyrics weren't enough to convince you of his boss status, than the video is the undeniable proof you are searching for. King Spencer's cinematic style was a home run in capturing 1st Verse as the boss that he is. And his friends sharing in the moments that only bosses have. 1st Verse sits majestically at the head of the table in a luxurious wine room, surrounded by those that stayed down. As Slim Thug would say, "I'm the mutherfuccin Boss".
