Moving to Foreign Country

I came from Philippines and moved in The US, living here for almost 3 years. A couple of years was rough for me, with the new environment, people, culture, religion and dialect. Being new in a foreign country is a big move for me and my son, especially it's different from what we used to be.

I moved here to be with my man, and to create our family here. It wasn't an easy, moving to US from Asia. When I got here, the first thing I noticed, most people drive their own car here. In the Philippines public transportation is huge, anywhere you can find different transportation. There's train, jeepneys, tricycle, motorcycle, taxi, multicab, pedicab, and buses.

I had a hard time with their food here in the US,I missed our dessert and seafood. Usually here they eat veggies and meat or with bread. Example pizza or bread, in our country it's only our snack in the morning or afternoon. Here, it's their lunch or dinner. But, in Asia we always eat meat with vegetable and rice, every meal there should be a rice in our table its a must. I think it would be hard for me not to stop eating rice, especially 29 years of my life I ate rice 3 times a day.

Gossip is not popular here, like in Asia people will be nosy with your life, but here they don't care or doesn't have time for that. like in the Philippines, your neighbor will know all the stuff that's happening in your town. But, the bad thing about it is, here you cant even talk to your neighbor everyday because their busy in their work or doesn't want to talk to you. In our country everyday I always talk or say hi to our neighbor. I cried almost everyday, because, I missed my family or missed talking to my family and friends everyday. But, I'm very thankful because my husbands family are all nice to me.

Moving to a foreign country is a big risk, you don't know what awaits you. But, we should be strong and pray. Everyone undergo changes in their lives too.But, it's up to you if you will risk or just be happy of what you have. As much as possible i didn't want to be away from my family and friends. But, they have their own life too and me, I need to start a new life. All of us are scared to find a new job or move to a new place, or try a new haircut. But, if you will not try and risk you will never know. Just be sure when you do stuff, you did it heartily.
