Bones is an American crime drama series about an FBI agent Seely Booth (played by Davis Boreanaz) and a forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance (Bones)Brennan (Emily Deschanel) who works at the Jeffersonian.
I am up to season four and just finished watching season 4 episode 4, The Finger in the nest. It starts out with agent Booth spending time with his young son in a park. Booth Lifts his son up to see a nest on a low hanging branch only for the kid to find a finger.
The finger turned out to belong to a veterinarian who was killed by a dog. But the reason I am writing about this is because I saw a few things become clearer in the overall story line of a few character.
From the very first episode Temperance appears to be direct in a very clinical way, not understanding the nuances of common everyday social behavior. She becomes attached to the dog who was commanded to kill the veterinarian with plans to adopt it. To find out the answer of who commanded the dog you will have to watch the show.
After all is said and done Her and Booth are sitting in her office discussing her wish to adopt the dog and the plans she has already made for it's care if she ever needs to travel and Booth tells her they put the dog down.
An ending scene shows her getting emotional and even shedding a tear for the dog as she buried him. I loved this scene as to me it felt like she had had some growth.
Another show of character growth was when her coworker, Hodgins (Thomas Thyne) spoke with the FBI psychologist Sweets (John Daley) and admitted to not dealing well with the fact his best friend was incarcerated and the break up with his girlfriend.
Up to this point in the series I though he was taking it well and even though his boss had called him out on some things, I had not really noticed any change in the character.
The dynamics with all these actors are really well portrayed. I am enjoying watching this show. More now for the character interactions than the storyline.
