There's never been a sequel that lived up to the first one.. Clerks has come closest imo
The Empire Strikes Back is widely considered the best Star Wars movie and is a sequel.
The Dark Knight is by far my favorite Batman movie and is also a sequel.
I did like The Dark Knight.. but not as good as the first one.. I didn't see Empire..
