(minor spoiler warning)
Why the fuck should you watch “Terminator: Dark Fate”?
• You are convinced that seeing the old Arnold Schwarzenegger punching bad guys is better than anything else in your life at the moment, or possibly ever.
• You like what they did with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” – bring the old people back from the original movie, and do the same story in the new setting.
• You like movies that are all about “let’s do it for one more last time!”
• You watch terminator movies only for naked butts. Don’t worry, you will not be let down!
The EPIC saga of John Connor vs. machines who are trying to destroy humans continues. After years and years of keeping John alive through many sacrifices, lots of blood and sequels – one Terminator just walks by and kills the young John. Yes. He’s dead now. Deal with it. And the terminators can finally relax and have a normal life. Not quite the beginning I was expecting from the movie, but that got me interested. It must change everything, I thought. And it makes so much sense, that finally they succeed – I mean they have a fucking time machine.
Then we get to see the new characters: Grace (Mackenzie Davis) and Dani (Natalia Reyes). Dani is a random woman who the new terminators from the new future want to kill because he’s basically the new John (Why to kill John, if we are going to have a John anyways?). Grace is a soldier who was sent from the future to protect Dani. Crace is not a normal human - she is full of machine super-shit to make her a super-soldier, but sometimes she gets thirsty and then she needs to sleep.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton reprise their roles as T-800 and Sarah Connor, and they are doing great jobs with that. Both bring something new to the characters and it’s painful to watch how much more charisma these two have than the new forgettable characters. Although the new Terminator Rev-9 (Gabriel Luna) is great. He really gives the impression that he is an unstoppable force that you need to run from and not fight.
Movie itself is decent. Nothing that you would tell your grandchildren one day, but a solid entertainment nevertheless. Some humour, good action, future shit, Arnold saying “don’t do it” and the good old “dõn dõn dõn dõn” (Terminator soundtrack theme). And now the Pro Action Movie Specialist tip: go see it with low expectations, then you’ll have better time…that also works with dating. Need dating tips? Then comment below.
Why the fuck you shouldn’t watch “Terminator: Dark Fate”?
• You expect something groundbreaking and new in the action-science-fiction genre.
• You hate sequels as much as you hate vegans. (Disclaimer: make love, don’t hate.)
• You have always hated Schwarzenegger and his magnificent body and successful life. How can anyone call him an “actor”, right!?
• You are Skynet.
