Hello movie marauders! Today is the first article on Marauder's Movie Matches!!! Every Friday there will be a match between two movies (they have to be related to each other in some way).  This week I have chosen The Lego Movie and The Lego Batman Movie. The Lego Movie and The Lego Batman Movie have been a very big success, and have impacted the future of Lego films. The Lego Ninjago Movie is slated to release September 22, 2017, and is a spin-off of Lego Ninjago. The Billion Brick Race is another Lego film which will release May 24, 2019. It is apparently going to be the biggest race movie of all time, and will be directed/written by Drew Pearce and Jason Segel. The Lego movie I really want to see is The Lego Movie Sequel, which has a release date of February 8, 2019. Without the success of the two Lego Movies that have already been released, there would be no "Lego Movie Universe." Let's take a look at which movie is better:

The Lego Movie:

"Everything is awesome" in this movie. It had comedy, action, and a very good story. I loved how the prophecy ended up being fake, and Emmet had to just believe in himself in order to save everyone. I also loved the imagination and whimsicalness of this movie. Also, it was very cool to see all the characters from different universes pop up (Superman, Green Lantern, Dumbledore, etc.). Honestly, there was not one character that I didn't like in this movie. If I had to choose a character that I liked the best, it would definitely be Wyldstyle.

This is because she is relatable and a badass action hero. The audience can definitely relate to how she felt when she thought the prophecy was about her, but ended up going to someone who didn't know anything about master building. It was also nice to watch her character dissolve her tough exterior throughout the movie. I love how this movie had so many different locations, and showed how there are multiple worlds/universes.

Overall this movie could not have been any better, and i have no complaints about it. Every time I watch this movie, I notice more and more little details and jokes that I missed. Usually movies that are aimed towards a younger audience are hard to watch because they can be kind of dumb *Minions.* The Lego Movie was definitely made for all ages, and was an adventure from start to finish.

The Lego Batman Movie:

This film was just as funny as The Lego Movie, and was a very good take on Batman. Batman also went through a character arc, as he conquered his fear of having a family again. I loved all the characters from different universes and (of course) Siri as 'Puter. This movie did not fail (like Minions did) of having a side character have their own spin-off movie. The Lego Batman Movie made fun of all the right things about Batman and had a great story. I love movies where all the characters have to put aside their differences to fight the big villain/problem.

This film introduced Robin (who you feel bad for the entire movie), Batgirl (in her classic purple and yellow suit), Alfred (who wasn't just cooking and cleaning for Bruce in this version), and the Joker (who has serious relationship issues with Batman). I do wish there was more of Batgirl, because we mostly saw her Barbara Gordon side. Robin was adorable and was teased for his costume/listening to whatever Batman says. If you loved Will Arnett as Batman in The Lego Movie, then The Lego Batman Movie is definitely a movie you should add to your list.

Conclusion:

The Lego Movie is the WINNER

The Lego Batman Movie was very good, but The Lego Movie is just more enjoyable to watch. The Lego Movie had so many great aspects to it and never lost its fast pace. Certain times in The Lego Batman Movie were a little slow. There may be more jokes in The Lego Batman Movie, but it won't change the fact that The Lego Movie is just better.
