Hey movie marauders! Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them 2 is set to release November 16, 2018 (Principal photography began July 3, 2017). The first film didn't do as well as expected (73% on Rotten Tomatoes). Personally, I liked certain aspects of the movie. It wasn't that good overall, and I still like the Harry Potter series better. J.K. Rowling has already announced that 5 films are planned for the Fantastic Beasts series. If you have seen the first movie, you are probably wondering how there are enough story lines to keep this series going. Well, so am I. Although Pottermore has released some new information on the sequel, which does help me see the future of this series more clearly. So, let's get right into what you should expect for Fantastic Beasts 2!!

Young Albus Dumbledore

We all know that Grindelwald was revealed at the end of Fantastic Beasts (played by Johnny Depp). In the Harry Potter franchise, it was revealed that Grindelwald turned out to be an evil wizard and was friends with Dumbledore (Because of their infamous duel--they were involved with the murder of Dumbledore's sister Ariana). Also, Dumbledore developed feelings for Grindelwald (according to J.K. Rowling). Let's just say Dumbledore and Grindelwald's history is complicated. Well, if Grindelwald is in Fantatsic Beasts, then Dumbledore should definitely be in it too! Jude Law has been announced to play a younger Dumbledore.

I am very excited for this because I think Jude Law is the perfect person for the role. Also, Dumbledore was mentioned in the first film when Graves (who was really Grindelwald) asked Newt why Dumbledore was fighting Newt's expulsion from Hogwarts. Dumbledore took a liking to Newt during his time at Hogwarts, but we are not sure exactly what happened. (Fun Fact: Luna Lovegood--in the Harry Potter series--marries Newt's great-grandson!) Fantastic Beasts 1 takes place in 1926, making Dumbledore 45 years old at the time (Dumbledore was 110 years old when Harry Potter started school at Hogwarts). I am hoping that Dumbledore's character isn't ruined in Fantastic Beasts, and that Dumbledore is used properly in the sequel.

Plot Of Fantastic Beasts 2

According to Pottermore, Grindelwald will elaborately escape from MACUSA custody (Magical Congress of the United States of America). This makes Dumbledore team up with Newt to stop him from wreaking havoc. When Grindelwald esacpes, he gathers followers, and makes them powerful apparently. Newt isn't the only one trying to stop Grindelwald. Queenie, Tina, and Jacob (the muggle-I will never say no-maj because it doesn't sound cool), and other characters--which will be discussed in the next section of this article --will help in the efforts to stop Grindelwald.

I think the plot of the sequel sounds more interesting than the first film. The first movie definitely let me down, and I really want the Fantastic Beasts Universe to succeed. I think it has a lot of potential, but there were too many story lines in the first movie. I think the sequel will be at least better than the first Fantastic Beasts (I'm not saying it will be a good movie overall though) just because there is one story line (that we know of) of Dumbledore teaming up with Newt to stop Grindelwald.

New Characters

David Yates, who directed Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them plus some Harry Potter films, will return to direct the sequel. J.K. Rowling is a producer and wrote the screenplay for this film.

She is part of the Lestrange family. In the first film, we saw a picture of her that Newt has. I think they had a romantic relationship that didn't end well.
