In some Hollywood office someone thought that the inner life of an emoticon could be so interesting as to make a movie. Was wrong.
The worst fear of Columbia and Sony Pictures Animation is being fulfilled. This month premiered in theaters of the United States the film of The Emoji Movie, two producers who nobody cares who they are. However, and to his misfortune, the first evaluations that have come out of it have been more than disastrous.
As can be seen in Rotten Tomatoes, and at least at the time of making this note The Emoji film already has more than 36 reviews from the specialized critics who, together, give an evaluation of just 6% Of approval within a scale of 100; That is to say that as such, it is classified as a rotten tape within its scale of evaluation. For its part, the general audience of the site has given a higher rating, although this continues to remain within the range of garbage (49% approval).
Things are not very different from other sites that collect reviews. As for Metacritic, The Emoji Movie has a rating of 9/100 from critics and a whopping 2.2 users. If things go like this, then this would become the worst rated film of all of 2017.
Well, it seems that we have just found a strong contender for next year's Razzies and Oscars.
With the children and young people in the palm of the hand, everyone knows the lad loves cell phones, sure that a movie about smartphones is exciting, only added a dose of existential conflict and a positive and digestive moral to content to that adult public to which it has no choice but to lodge in the projections of animation.
The result, however, has been the worst animation film of recent times: 'The Emoji Movie' is the flat and unrelated product of an inconsistent and empty idea and, to top it all off, it is not even minimally entertaining, for the love of God, they canceled the Popeye movie that looked amazing and very well animated by this garbage, It is simply disappointing.
And that is the reluctance is such that it draws attention. An apathy that is not only the basis of a predictable and superficial script, an unsuitable protagonist who sets out on an adventure to find himself and discover his purpose in life, yes,
and with a white and easy mood, Sketchy and puerile protagonists, but impregnates from the design of the characters, dude, they just grab the original Whatsapp's Emojis and put to them arms and legs.
An apathy that is not only the basis of a predictable and superficial script, an unsuitable protagonist who sets out on an adventure to find himself and discover his purpose in life, with a white and easy mood, bad protagonists, but horrible from the design of the characters, dude, they just grab the original Whatsapp's Emojis and put to them arms and legs, there is nothing original in it.
"The world we live in is so amazing, mysterious and even magical. The 'smartphone.' Each of its systems, programs and applications is its own mini-plane of perfect technology", presents the voice of the protagonist, Gene. An emoticon born in a family with a tradition of 'bah' (with the vital task of showing indifference), but is capable of mimicking any of the other emotions. Has anyone seen the 'Divergent' saga?
Gene lives in Textopolis, a city in which all its inhabitants are programmed to do a single thing, "The crying face always has to cry, even if he just won the lottery, and the face that laughs always has to laugh, even if he just broke your arm", trapped in a perverse utilitarian system.
The day that is finally to be released as a productive part in the mobile of Álex, a hyperconnected teenager who tries to get his platonic love to pay attention to him by sending messages to her (How romantic, do not you think?), Gene is scared and panicked, he can not fulfill what, in theory, is his only mission in life: to be indifferent.
Therefore, it must be presented at the office of Smiler (perhaps the most interesting character in the film), that after his eternal ditto in the face hides a totalitarian and Machiavellian vein and wants to punish Gene... with elimination. Again, does anyone remember 'Divergent?
From there begins the 'app-venture' (No, the attempt at grace does not work and we all know it), which consists of a series of tests with which Gene is stuck in his flee, by jumping from application to application within the smartphone.
From the celebrated 'Candy Crush' to 'Just Dance' (Seriously, it's the smartest way to advertise), the protagonist will have to overcome the challenges of the different programs while escaping from some destroying robots with the help of 'Hi-5' and 'Jailbreak' (Jailbreak is a feminist emoji, yeah, you didn't read wrong)
And the surprising thing is that to develop the plot of this film three, THREE screenwriters have been necessary. The moral of this film is to be yourself, listen to your heart and express your feelings.
The emoji movie was born with the balance inclined towards the commercial interest and neglecting the artistic and emotional aspects, without being able to hide its lack of passion. That passion that praise the dialogues of the characters, but that is missing in each one of the frames. And that's called 'imposture' or 'cynicism'.
Thanks for reading my criticism of the movie, I have to clarify that i've watch the full movie, but I regret that, and I love the animated movies, but this... The worst movie so far that I have ever seen, I do not recommend it, don't go to see it, you will waste valuable time and money, and if you do not trust me, go see all the other criticisms of the movie. See you next time!
