Seriously, watch it

Have you ever seen Rocky? the boxing movie about a nobody that got a chance to measure himself against the champion of the world. Quite frankly, you should be invested in the subject by now, however, if you are not then I´ll try to change that with this post.

Okay, let´s get over with the fact that Rocky is an old movie, like a lot, It was premiered in 1976, which translate to more than 40 years ago, but is still regarded as a cult classic, because of the impact it caused. Almost every sports movie that came after It was influenced by it´s main charm, the underdog theme, that history where someone has virtually no chance of succses, but keeps trying and later takes the whole world by surprise.

Watching the film, you get the glimpses of a truly humble guy, that try his best in a dire situation, not letting the world change him, but instead staying true to himself, you can see that the worst beatings in Rocky´s life came from life itself, not giving him the oportunity to shine, until after his prime, and even then, nobody else belives in him.

The underdog theme feels real in Rocky, after all, the star of the film, Sylvester Stallone, was in bankrupt by the time the movie saw the big screens, he had to appear in a porn movie because of his need to work on something. Then he had the idea of a Boxer who could have the whole world against him, but still smile and keep trying, not giving up no matter how hard it was, or how impossible it seemed.

After three days of writing, Stallone finished the draft of the first Rocky movie, the producers offered to buy the script but Stallone wanted to star in the film, so he refused. Later the production was marked by an overwhelminly low budget, that lead into several funny production mistakes, which in the end didn´t hurt the film success, but made some great movie trivia. That year Rocky won the Oscar for best picture.

So the own personal history of Sly, gets reflected in Rocky, not only in the first one, but in the later sequels too (Although they vary in quality). It can´t get more inspirational than that.
