Avengers: Infinity War : it's a smash!!!
Infinity War exploded at the end of Disney's D23 Expo to a standing ovation from the crowd. Sadly right now Disney hasn't released the footage (they may well be waiting until after San Diego Comic-Con next week).
As it begins, Thor is literally floating through space when he crashes into the Milano (Star Lord's spacecraft from Guardians of the Galaxy) and is brought on board by the Guardians.
He's unconscious and suddenly pops up as they examine him, to shout: "Who the hell are you?" before Thor leads the Guardians to meet the rest of the Avengers.
Peter Parker gets the Spidey Sense on his school bus for the first time, sensing Thanos is coming. We later see Spidey in action in what appears to be the Iron Spider suit (super exciting).
There's a very brief snippet of Scarlet Witch blowing up a bunch of cars. There's no context for this – could she have gone rogue?
Tom Hiddleston is back as Loki (yey!), briefly shown holding the Tesseract in the middle of destruction.
There's a massive fight between the Avengers and the Guardians with Thanos. Thanos literally knocks the armour off Iron Man. Tony also brings back the Hulkbuster armour.
"Fun isn't something one really considers when restoring balance to the universe. But this put a smile on my face," Thanos says as he wallops EVERYONE.
Some characters that may die in infinity war are:
. THOR
The God of Thunder would be an unexpected hero to die by Thanos’ hand, and the death could give fans some intriguing emotional fallout. As audiences know, Loki is directly connected to Thanos as the Frost Giant sought the Mad Titan’s help following his exile from Asgard. Loki and all his mixed feelings for Thor would react strongly to his adopted brother’s death, and the loss of Thor would give the MCU a chance to bring in Lady Thor if it so wanted.
. VISION
It is a given that Vision will be destroyed by Thanos at some point during Avengers: Infinity War. The character was only brought into the MCU during Avengers: Age of Ultron, but the artificial creature has already become a fan-favorite. The Mad Titan will send scores of fans into tears when he plucks Vision’s Mind Stone from his forehead, but he will be rebuilt - right? Well, there is always a chance the MCU may write out Vision to bolster an even more tragic backstory for the Scarlet Witch. The two characters have circled each other romantically since their debuts, and the permanent loss of Vision would weigh heavily on the Maximoff ‘miracle.’ If Thanos wants to know what true pain feels like, then all he has to do is trigger Scarlet Witch by killing off her paramour.
. DRAX: THE DESTROYER
In Guardians of the Galaxy, Drax the Destroyer is a man out for revenge. Throughout the movie, he is obsessed with killing Ronan the Accuser, the villainous Kree who slaughtered his entire family in front of him. When he finds out that Ronan was acting under the orders of the Mad Titan, he declares “Thanos is the real mission” and sets his sight on avenging his loved ones once and for all.
Drax and Thanos have a history, including the famous scene in which Drax literally punches Thanos’s heart out of his body. A similar scene could go down in Infinity War, but with Drax instead sacrificing himself to save his friends and put an end to Thanos’s madness. It would actually be the perfect ending to his story. The rough, lovable loner would make the ultimate sacrifice for his friends and finally be reunited with his family.
. SCARLET WITCH
Wanda Maximoff, AKA Scarlet Witch, is easily one of the most powerful Avengers in the group’s history. Her mystical powers range from creating fear-inducing hallucinations to wiping out a majority of the world’s mutant population with a single phrase. However, in the MCU, Wanda’s powers seem to have been reduced to a more telekinesis-like state. Perhaps this is to compensate for the rest of the Avengers, who seem to have varying degrees of power in different situations, or perhaps the character has simply not reached her full potential in the MCU yet.
Either way, Scarlet Witch is expendable. She has only been featured in two MCU movies so far, and even then it was only as a secondary character. She has been ridiculously under-powered throughout her entire tenure despite still being considered one of the strongest Avengers. When Thanos arrives, she’s a goner. One of the most common movie tropes used to show a villain’s strength is to have him take down one of the most powerful heroes; Wanda fits the bill perfectly.
Others characters like nick fury, heimdall, odin etc. may also die in this war....
Well that concludes this post...
