Movie Review: Ocean's Eight (2018) It's actually good?

After that Ghostbusters fiasco ı watched this movie with reaaaly low expectations. You all remember right, that piece of garbage movie. Well to my suprise Ocean's Eight is actually wasn't bad. By Ocean series standart of course.

First of all first 3 movies wasn't anything godlike or legendary but they were memorable and funny. But we barely get that same taste in this all woman cast movie. Why we dont get that taste? It wasnt about all woman cast ı can tell you that easly. Cast was amazing. All A-lister talented actresses. They sold their parts, their emotions just right. Problem was there wasn't much to sell. "What this movie lacks?" question doesnt have a one word answer. Movie got few fundamental problems.

We dont get invested in characters and this is specially bad in a heist movie because we dont realy care if the heist is successfully pulled or not this way. How did we get invested in first 3 movie you ask? Well we didnt get any big character building arcs in that movies but they had a lot banters between them, a lot of back and fort joking. That jokes were not just for the sake of the comedy they were there to ground those characters to reality and makes us invest in them with our laughters or chuckles. We dont get any of that in this movie so we dont realy care in the third act. Well heist doesnt feels like in danger at any moment anyway...

There is no last second problems, no big troubles to overcome. Like what team only have to deal with one magnetic lock as a unseen problem?. Which they just solve in 5 seconds without no drama or tension. These elements makes the difference from original movies.

There was no big badie, no evil villian to screw over. So we have no motive to get behind of to good guys other than their greed. There was a kinda evil ex-boyfriend. But he was neither a true villian nor can go toe to toe with likes of Al Pacino or Andy Garcia.

Plot twist wasn't strong like in first three movies. Plot twist was something ı was looking into but ı was dissapointed. What? You stole some extra jewelry so you are slightly more rich?

There was just a one feminist rant which to our suprise that scene was the lowest moment of the movie. Our two lead characters talks to each other and one of them tries to explain why there is no room for a man in the crew. She says: "A Him gets noticed, a Her gets ignored. And for once, we'd like to be ignored." Realy a beautiful woman in a gala gets ignored. Lİke a gorgeous woman like you gets ignored in a gala??? How this much of a stupid line can finds it's way in to the movie.

I am ignoring some of the obvious plot holes even they are huge because there was some in originial triolgy. Like suddenly how our two lead characters can have extra millions in their accout to pay their debts. Whom these characters are prime suspects of the robbery. Or why they had to cut the dimonds in the to little pieces instead of just putting them in to their purses or in to the other cart which they smuggled out bunch of more jewels.

But there was also some couple high points to be fair. We see many big celebrities as a background characthers. Spotting them was fun. That was nice. There was a lot of beautiful dresses besides than gala. So movie styles did a very good job. We saw some old characters those was good trowbacks for us. Colors and cinematography was decent. You can watch it without get bored. At the end of the day this makes a movie okay in my eyes. I'l be waiting the Ocean's Nine.
