Sometimes I know exactly where I am going. In that case it’s easy, pick a route and go.
More often I have an idea where I’d like to end up, and generally speaking a direction to go.
Once in a while I just follow the front wheel and see where it takes me.
Monument Valley Last
One more look at Monument Valley before we go. It's hard for me to leave this place. Hell, it's hard for me to leave the photographs of this place.
We drop down to Arizona at a place called 'Badwater'. It's pretty remote, a great place to stop for gas and an ice cream. We've got a stop in mind before we camp for the last night on this trip. But we have 400 miles of wild, free country to cross before we get there. We'll see Navajo farms and outposts, some with traditional Hogans. No photos. The Navajo believe that their hogans should not be photographed. Disturbs the spirits.
The Corner
Winslow, Arizona is a sleepy railroad town and the nearest access to Petrified Forest National Park but is best known for the song "Take It Easy" by the Eagles. This is Winslow's monument to that song. This is that corner.

It's a nice little park and area made possible by a fire that destroyed the business with the wall you can see. Winslow got given lemons and made lemonade.
It's a GIRL
Turns out there is a really great Mom and Pop restaurant right up the street where we ate our 'big meal' for the day. Roast beef and potatoes. Finest kind.
It was a couple hundred miles out of our way, but this is our favorite camping area and we had a night left. Near Pine, AZ, where there is also one of our favorite restaurants. There seems to be a trend to our travels.
We'll be home tomorrow. A good shower and a full day to unpack and I'll be thinking about where to go next.
So, for the next few days I'm going to pick up some items of interest that really don't have a series to them. A place called Painted Rock will be next. I hope you are along!

It's that sort of place. Amazingly, I've run into friends there a couple of times.
I have always loved seeing photos of Monument Valley. And I'm in Australia, far from the actual place. But it's awe inspiring. Reminds me of some places in central Australia, far off the beaten track.
Loved the addition of the Eagles connection to Winslow. Found myself singing those lines when I saw your photograph, even before reading them underneath.
