"..it's your attitude towards challenges that makes all the difference.."
It was one of those mornings like all the others, where I was stuck between registering for my failed course, Statistics, or postponing it to the next day. We all knew, without a doubt, that our lecturer, and the cordinator of the course was going to rain down on us for registering late and for failing the course in the first place. The deadline was fast approaching and there was really no other route to take. That's one spot you don't want to find yourself trust me. Eventually, my friends and I summoned the courage to meet with our fears face to face.
Mean guy, our lecturer. Hardly smiles and is ever ready to bombard whenever and wherever. It was one long walk to his office, lol. We got there and my friend knocked of course (like did you really think I was going to be the one to knock?)
His stern voice asked us in. Told him we wanted to register his course, he looked at us as if to say "your lucky killing isn't legal" then reached for his drawer and grabbed his register.
The process was surprisingly painless. Before we left he asked why we kept coming to him for registeration, saying he had become familiar with my face especially. Dear God! I froze for a bit. I always had a hard time with numbers right from high school, it was just too much for me I guess. So I laid that down as my excuse to him, tried explaining how challenging it has been for me all through the years. He smiled and shook his head. Yess I said it, he smiled! Rare sight. His next words changed alot of things in me. He said and I quote, "...challenges aren't the problem, they aren't necessarily bad either. Its your attitude towards them that make the difference.."
I was a new man after that day, facing challenges with a different mindset. Challenges are a part of our lives whether we like it or not. They're here to stay and the sooner we realise and accept that, the better for us. The important thing is our response to them. It's life's way of molding and building you up. But if you allow it to be a barricade, then we've lost the whole point.
