Three Things To Value As Your Grow Old

in #motivation19 days ago

While you were much younger, you will agree with me that many things mattered to you - like entertainment, fashion, what others feel about you, etc. However, as you grow older and obviously wiser, you will realise that there are things that you will value more and favour over the others. Believe me, with age comes enough maturity and experiences to be able to determine what truly matters to you. Here, we shall take a look at the three things to hold dearly as you become older. Not only to value them, but they are to be cherished, knowing that they are largely irreplaceable and can also affect a major part of the life of an individual.

The first thing to value is time. There is almost nothing as irreplaceable as time. As each moment passes, time, which is of utmost value, also passes and a lost time has definitely gone and may not be gotten back in the same way. Each passing time is an opportunity to do something worthwhile and you should spend it to prove that you value it. What you have to do today should not be procrastinated till later time, otherwise time would have been lost. In order to utilise time effectively, you have to learn to live in the present. The value of time comes from utilise each moment to the fullest. Everyone may have the same numeric value of time in a day, but it is the usage that will determine the extent of value that they place on their own.

You have to also learn to spend time on what brings you value and would add positively to you - things like pursuing after your passion, acquiring new knowledge, creating a dream, learning skills, etc, but whatever it is, always try to use time in your favour. Avoid putting time into what does not bring you value or what has negative effect. Always have in mind that, even though time is the gift of nature, you are also to give back to nature by utilising its gift well. How you use time and the value that you have for it will ultimately determine your legacy.

Another thing to value as you grow older is friendship and relationships. The gift of good and relevant people is a very underrated gift. One of the greatest joys of life and of living is by being surrounded by good people who will always have your back. This is why I believe that investing in human development is a very valuable investment. The friendship that you build today may be what will build you tomorrow. Do not only remember your friends when you need help, try to maintain a network of love and also show them kindness, so that when you need their support, it will be readily available.

In order to build a good network of friends, you have to invest in developing yourself and make yourself conducive for them to stay around. Over the years, I have come to realise that relationship and friendship are two very important factors that give life a meaning. There is no feeling as lonely as staying all alone without having anyone around. On the other hand, there is a feeling of bliss and a sense of belonging that is created when you are surrounded by the right people. Whatever you do, always make sure that you do not lack the gift of good people around.

The third thing to value as you grow old, which a lot of other things are hinged on, is good health. As a matter of fact, achieving a good health is among the greatest achievements that you can ever think of. No matter what you have, without having a good health, how will you enjoy it? You have to be mindful of a lot of things in order to stay healthy. For example; be mindful of what you eat and how you eat what you eat. Eat healthily and in the right proportion, go for regular medical checkups, avoid bad habits that can harm your body, take adequate rest.

As much as you are looking after your physical and bodily health, you should also consider your mental and psychological health, because it also affects you in ways you cannot even imagine. Avoid things that can easily depress you or abuse you mentally. Remember that your wealth is complete with a good health.
