The link and relationship between your mentality (your thought pattern and your mindset) and your reality (what becomes of you) is without question. In fact, the way you perceive the world around you and your understanding of it, can directly be influenced by the way you think. The same thing may be presented to two people but their interpretation of it may vary, which will also influence how they either welcome it or react against it. This is why, some people may be seeing challenges as problems, while others may see the same as opportunities - it is all a matter of your mentality; your mindset.
What you constantly think of is what you will begin to experience. As a matter of fact, when you think of a particular thing for long, it will form your mindset for you, then after a while, it will shape your character, which will also determine how you act. So by direct implication, your mentality and your actions are mutually related - which also leads to the outcome of your life; your reality. What you do not want to see in life, then you do not have any business thinking about it. How you interpret a situation is a result of what you think about the situation. That is; either you will see it as a problem or as an opportunity.
While in school, in our first year. there was this guy that, everytime the exam period draws near, he will fall sick. The sickness was actually because of his scare for exam. He would also complain of the exam as if it is a challenge or an opposition to his success, whereas he did not see it as a major requirement to achieve his success. The way he thought about exam also affected how he acted towards it and you will see fears written all over him. In the first and second semesters of the first year, he did no do well academically because of this same thing and it was obvious that it will also continue in that way if he did not change his mentality and start to see exams positively.
What we did after the first year was to call him and explain that it was his fear that actually made him to do poorly in the exam, not because the exam was difficult. We made him to see that exams are necessities to success and no one emerges a success in academics without going through it. We also told him that he should begin to see exams as his allies, not as his foes. With these pieces of advice, he changed his mentality and began to welcome his academic activities in positive light. Adorably, that semester, he did excellently well. You see, the only thing he needed to do was to change his mindset from negative to positive and every other thing began to fall into place. If you must act right in order to see the right result, then you must first think right. You cannot be thinking negatively without it affecting you negatively.
One of my mentors once said that "there is no challenge nor mountain anywhere, every human only becomes a victim of their most dominant fears." What this means is that it is what you think in your heart - your mentality, that will determine what you act with your hand, and will also determine if you will succeed or not. If something does not seem to be working for you, do not be quick to blame "village people," first look inwards and find out what your mindset in life has been. The solution may just be within you. Once you have realigned your mind aright, everything will fall into good place.
It is worthy to note that your mentality does not only affect you directly, but it also influences how others interact with you. For example, when you are a positive and highly confident person, positive people will feel attracted to you and of course, you will easily make friends with them. You will agree with me that people easily make friends with like-minded people. That is; if your mentality is aright, you will attract people who also think towards the same line. So in life, always have in mind that your mentality is what will ultimately define the real you. Everyone has the power to think, but what to think is a product of choice. Use your mind productively in thinking positivities and your life will become positive.
