ACCOLADES

in #motivation7 years ago

The undoing of many young and curious upcomings after their first mine in the field of hard work began with a single flimsy accolade.
To a young doctor on his first successful surgery "How great you have turned out, Doctor of doctors" and to a lawyer reaping victory from his first case "wow! Your knowledge surpasses socrates", as plain and wimpy as these words turn out, the activity of these words in the mind is as deadly as Bin ladin orchestrating a catastrophic bombing on the Eiffel tower.
Accolades are really beautiful and inspiring, spurring us to the acknowledgement of success and hardwork and should be judged with intensity of purposeful thoughts and self control, pack of these will lead the one being lifted to his Waterloo.
In Oprah Winfrey's words "I can honestly say that I'm not a person who think about awards, as much as I think about the work itself."
In this light, our disposition towards accolades and rewards should be more hard work and more inspiring goals not relaxation and daydreaming. Make deliberate efforts to put accolades where they belong -THE SHELF. With great power comes great responsibility. Don't be the sheep that feeds off his own shrubs, let action taken at the prime of your career or life be even collective(two good heads are profitable to the expression of wisdom) and engage professional like minds. Learn the harnessing of potentials in others and use these potentials.
Finally, Grow. Be daring and intentional.
Happy new year.

Mind burgling and inspiring post. We tend to let the accolades and false praises get into our head. Thanks for this piece
