You Are The People: The Five Second Rule

in #motivation7 years ago

In my quest for self-improvement, I have been working to get out of this self-defeatist way of thinking. To aide with that, I have started watching a motivational video every night before bed in hopes that I would wake up thinking about that the next day and be magically whisked away to a place of self-love and accomplishment.

I watched this video last night about the Five Second Rule. This was a game changer! Not only did it offer a way to trick your brain into doing things that it thinks might cause you harm, but I found myself actually using that technique this morning. If you want to do something, you have five seconds to do it before your brain talks you out of it. If you're having a hard time getting the get-up-and-go mentality, I suggest giving this video a shot. It's working for me so far. Maybe it will work for you, too. Just make sure you click play in 5...4...3...2...1.

Thanks for reading!

I watched this and always meant to pick up the book...but you know...procrastionation!

I have this book called The Procrastinator's Handbook that I bought back in 2012 for a Communication class I was taking. It's sitting on my bookshelf and the cover has never been cracked. I think the author may have failed in her attempt to motivate me...lol The counting down from 5 seems to be working though. I've been using it all morning.
