The Paradox of The Influencer

in #motivation7 years ago

If I scroll through Facebook, the posts in my feed are mostly made by an influencer. However, a very specific kind of influencer, an influencer which talks about well-being. First of all, these kinds of influencers changed my life and my way of thinking of what truly matters in life. One which changed me the most for the better is Tony Robbins. After I went to one of his venues I made a decision that I will be my best self every single second. Something that is surprisingly hard. I took this very seriously and it made a great impact.

However, recently I had this thought which made sense to me which I want to share. I call it The Paradox of the Influencer. This thought started growing on me just after the Tony Robbins venue. I said to myself "The majority of the people will go on with their lives as usual". Why I thought this way was because of an old saying "It's hard to teach an old dog to sit". Just as it is hard for people to literally turn their lives around, and most just give up. I think why I didn't was because I didn't have a direction, I was only 17 years old.

What is the paradox in this?

The thing is you are not really serious about The Tony Robbins Venue is will have the opposite effect on you. You will only start to think about what others probably are accomplishing. Or what I thought yesterday " Why am I not as happy as Tony Robbins say I can be? What am I doing wrong?. Suddenly, something truly positive and motivational has turned into something depressing.

My question to you is then: Is being happy and being full-filled really the essence of life or is it just influencers who let their own ego guide you towards this conclusion of life so they themselves can feel better?
