When I was a kid, there was one subject that was repeatedly given to us for essay writing class: “Which one is better, knowledge or wealth?” It was a real cliché and the essays students wrote were also mostly stereotypical.
On the one side, there is little doubt that you are successful if you achieve your desired visions and planned goals. As such, happiness and success are mostly a subjective state and you can’t rely on any specific objective metric to measure it. You can’t just say that anyone who has achieved a certain level of skill, wealth, social status, etc is successful. Success for any individual has a specific meaning.
The problem with a subjective definition is that we don’t always have a clear-cut vision for ourselves. Going back to the above-mentioned cliché, we usually want both knowledge and wealth. Besides, even if you have chosen a clear path, at what level do you reach satisfaction with your performance?
I think that success should be defined based on the realization of the capabilities and potentials of each individual. The more you realize your capabilities and potentials, the more successful you are.

Do you even remember the dreams you had for your future when you were a kid? Did you follow those dreams or did you choose another path based on the limitations and hurdles of the real world? I think it is never too late to start following your dreams, and to attempt to realize all your potentials.

But, are all successful people who realize their potentials in the outer world happy? Satisfied? Content? Loving? Fulfilled? Some are but many aren't even with their great "successes" because their outer success has to be balanced with inner success.
The development of the inner Self brings great fulfillment just by itself, without anything from the outside. Then everything done in the world is a joy and successes come much easier and more often.

yes, i followed my dream. When I was a kid I want to be an engineer and now after 3 months, i will be graduated as an electrical engineer. Honestly i faced many hurdels and failures but i didn't change my goal.

Yes i agreed with @ ghasemkiani that every individual have different capability level .it is necessary to fix the goals of life and struggle for them, then success will kiss your feet.
If you have the knowledge it will be easier to achieve wealth and to maintain what you have achieved.
If you are just wealthy you can easily lose everything without having the knowledge of how to operate with what you have.

For me, having what i need, which is love and being fully alive, and being able to make a difference in the lives of others, that's what it means to me. Feeling inner peace, joy and love every day. Having the freedom in my day to do what i love, when i want and with who i want. Now that's what success means to me.

Unfortunately, often a harsh reality forces many people to give up their dreams. They change the dream to the illusion of stability and it absorbs them. It seems to me that routine, takes a lot of energy and makes a person weak-willed.
In my childhood, I had a common dream, to become an astronaut. I still really love space. But in adolescence, I have a clear goal for which I strive to this day. This is financial independence. I believe that financial independence is a sponge to give you freedom. Freedom does not have to be tied to a particular place and circumstance. Finding financial independence for me is how to find strong ground under your feet. I think that such a dream and goal should be for many.
Steemit will allow me to move towards my dream and it's very cool.
