Real Talk: Let Go

Real talk: that damn "monkey mind" of yours. It's that voice that's constantly chattering in your mind, uncontrollable and overwhelming at times.

We make up 'stories' in our heads, almost like a real life play, about our future. We envision ourselves acting out whatever it is, and most of the time forcing our future selves to fail. Then we go into panic mode, a fight-or-flight per say, and dwell on this situation that will go wrong. Because we ‘saw’ it go wrong and just ‘know’ it will. We then let go completely of the present moment because we are so focused on something in the future… that we… cannot control.

so hear me…

Why bother allowing our energy and minds to be so focused on something that 1. hasn’t even happened yet and 2. we cannot control. I mean… can you control the future? If so, let a sista know! If not, I suggest this: allow yourself to let go. Let go of that need to control how your day will go in 10 minutes, 24 hours, etc. and instead, focus on being right here, right now.

As you read this, this moment, right now,
is the only thing you have control over.

So what are you going to do with it? Waste your energy thinking about that meeting you have to be in in 3 hours? Or instead, prep yourself right now to feel your best, focus on that task at hand that way come that meeting in 3 hours, you’ll be able to crush it because you were present the whole way up to it.

Are you ready to allow yourself to give up things out of your control?

Even for just today! Give it a try!

I am a complete worry wart when it comes things out of my control. And I get anxiety if things don't get fixed right away. I'm still trying to channel my clarity and coping skills and can say I have come a long way since I started forcing myself out of my comfort zone. Thanks for the awesome post as always @fitchick 👌🏽👌🏽

You're welcome! I'm so happy to hear that - keep up the good work. I can relate - I get so fixed on the small things...grams in counting my macros..time...so many things. Remind yourself to stay in the moment. And I always ask myself what I can control & whatever is not in my list at that moment...I say out loud, "Let go, Ilona."
