Indispensable Qualities Of a Youth

First of all, who is a Youth? The meaning of the term Youth varies in different societies around the world. But for specific purpose, the United Nation defines "Youth" as those persons between the ages of 15 and 24 years. Personally, I'll go with the definition that describes a youth as a period of transition from the dependence of childhood to adulthood's independence. Isn't that a wonderful definition of a youth? "A period of transition from the dependence of childhood to adulthood's independence".

I believe we've all felt independent at one point in our various lives. How did you feel? Don't you enjoy the feeling of being able to cater for yourself and loved ones? Don't you like it's accompanying respect?

Being a youth signifies strength, vigor, passion, good health etc. The youth can be acceptably labelled as the power force of a nation. Unless it's youths are active, the future of a will remain bleak. I'll be listing a few qualities of a youth and I hope you learn from this.

TIME CONSCIOUSNESS
The value of time can not be much emphasized. Time is vital to a youth (vital to everyone if I may say). There's a popular Nigerian song that says "time na money". That's a particularly true statement. Every moment of a youth is expensive and so a youth should utilize his precious time to engage in constructive and beneficial endeavours.

DISCIPLINE
It isn't so easy to maintain discipline I must say (speaking from personal experience), but it's a virtue that should be strived for nonetheless. Without discipline, I don't believe there's any worthy achievement. The virtue of discipline is fast losing its stand especially amongst the youths. The youth should endeavour to revive the spirit of discipline especially when it comes to important and delicate issues.

INDUSTRIALIZATION
In a country like Nigeria, I believe we know how less our government officials care about anyone outside themselves, this leaves the youth with no choice but to figure out various ways to utilize the talent and potentials it may possess. The talents and potentials of the youths are so great that care must be taken in order to prevent them from wasting and being idle. The youth should be free to explore career opportunities for the unconventional talents right now.

WORK
The period of youth signifies a period of independence, it also signifies a period of increased strength and vigor. A youth is advised to engage himself fully to a course and work! Without work, a youth becomes lazy and inefficient. Such kinds of youths do not help a nation develop and becomes a burden to everyone around.
