Nourishing Benefits of Mama Moon (Postpartum) Massage
Mama Moon Care will help you relax into your role as a Mother, honor your body and it’s life giving powers, celebrate your Mama Moon and the blessing of your child’s birth.
The transition into motherhood is a life changing experience that longs to be acknowledged and deeply honored. The new mothers body greatly craves healing touch as it goes through rapid structural and physiological changes. It can seem challenging in our modern culture for mothers to find time for deep inner nourishment as they adjust to life with a new baby yet “mothering the mother” is vitally important for both the short and long term health of the woman, child and family. Massage therapy is one of the most beneficial things a mother can receive after giving birth. The added element of heat is especially powerful for new mothers. Many ancient cultures practice what is commonly referred to as Mother Roasting where the mother is kept warm by a variety of means depending on the culture, some cultures give the mother daily hot oil massage for 40 days! The heat of the stones allows the muscles to relax more easily and deeply. It is ideal for relieving pain and tension created by strained and contracted muscles.
After the amazing work of birthing a child into the world every woman deserves to experience the healing gifts of massage!
The first few weeks are precious and the new mama deserves to take things slow and easy. This is why I offer postpartum hot stone massage as a home visit. You are welcome to bring the baby onto the mat/table with you if you are not ready to be away or can leave the baby with a caregiver while you practice the important “art” of self-care.
"The first month spent together introduces the baby to the rhythm of life and the frequency of living in the earth realms. The baby shares a merged consciousness with its mother and is programmed to live by her patterns by unconsciously learning by her example. A slow and nourishing lifestyle filled with trust, pleasure, and time for love imprints that frequency into the baby's primal brain, where it will guide it for the remainder of its life.
It is also essential to remember that childbirth, and the initial adjustment to motherhood and breastfeeding, may not always go as planned - and it is important that we re-dream the possibilities of motherhood without adding further pressure to new mothers. The key for this important time of mother-baby bonding is to be in contact with your own emotions, to consciously communicate with your baby, and to reach out for support. Trust that this soul has chosen you and is far wiser than you can imagine. Every mother's journey is unique."

Frequency/Length of Visits
Postpartum massage therapy can begin usually within 2—9 days. The immediate postpartum period (first 6 weeks after birth) is the most taxing on a new moms’ body and is when massage therapy is most beneficial. Once a week visits during that time, even if they are brief, can be extremely helpful as mom adjusts to her new life with baby. Afterwards, treatments can spread out to be every 2—6 weeks. This seems to be the best frequency to encourage a healthy start to motherhood.
