Last night's waning gibous moonrise @ 11:23 pm. Shot is taken from my balcony with a long prime lens. Notice the orangy' color cast of the moon from the sun. This effect is caused by our earth's atmosphere. The orange color is caused from our atmospheres light scattering.
When the moon is near the horizon, the moonlight passes through more atmosphere than when the moon is overhead.
