I imagine if Sisyphus were real and modern and lived in L.A., he’d be pushing a dumpster perpetually around the Santa Monica pier, trying to keep up with the waste and the excess and the constant influx of entitled zombies.
This would be the steepest of inclines, the most hellish of metaphors. And instead of being a chiseled, powerful king doing penance for his egregious sins, he’d be a poor, hard working immigrant...guilty only of not being born in the default position to win the game of soulless, capitalistic greed.
But hey, I’ve always been a dreamer.
