Well, we've all started like this. Most of my first blog posts (10 months ago) didn't even make $1. The content itself is not everything. You need to build a strong followership which needs a lot of time. People start following you when they notice that you deliver, when they know that you're going to meet their expectations (or even exceed them) with your next post... The example you mentioned is the perfect proof of that fact :-)
