RE: The Dark Side of Capitalism

in #money7 years ago

capitalism socialism and any other kind of ism will suck for so long as people treat each other like shit. People are nasty and greedy no matter what so called "system" they are in.
No matter how fair a system is people will try to game it for their own benefit. Steemit is a perfect example. the intent is to create content and up vote good content. But what you get is people up voting each other just for the up votes with no regard for quality or substance of the post.

Actually, there is substantial evidence fron anthropology that the system is responsible for creating certain types of behaviour.
I'm referring to the system of centralization, dominance and control that emerged after the agrarian revolution, culminating in the market system of economics.
In comparison, hunter gatherers were generally egalitarian and peaceful, and had affluence because they shared everything, and didn't have a society based on consumerism.
I don't advocate going back, but we need to come back to a decentralized, humanitarian society in modern form, using technology to create abundance, global networks and
free communication,etc.
When people feel safe, they act in a more loving and trusting way.

Well progress takes time, Rome wasn't built in 1 day. But I think some of the things are heading in the right direction. People now are not afraid to call out domestic violence as being immoral, whereas only 20 years ago it was just accepted as the default. Government schooling is getting exposed as being totall immoral and abusive towards kids, so that's that.

Other than that, the extent of the damage has to be limited, so decentralization is just damage control.

The subtle moral questions are up to everyday people to discover.
