All other Grocery stores: "Fuck, we're competing with Amazon now?"
For sure they are getting more worried. Grocery stores have been well aware of Amazon's intentions though. An example is Publix (a privately owned grocery store in the South). They have started to deliver groceries after ordering online. I think they even beat Amazon since Publix is known for their BOGO deals.
Kroger now down another 11% on this news after being down nearly 20% yesterday.
I really do wonder how much of this had already leaked in the industry. The reaction to the warning seemed excessive at the time, but now I wonder if Amazon buying WFMI was priced in.
All of the employees knew a buyout was coming. They put activist investors on the board, changed entire ordering system to eliminate back stock, and have been doing inventory checks every month to "square up the books" for a potential sale. No leak whatsoever that Amazon was in talks. Everyone was expecting something like a Kroger or Sprouts purchase.
And now it's finally been made public. Thoughts?

It wont take a while many other market business categories will be taken over by the corps. Atleast we can expect a price drop due to competitition war.
If true very interesting. Whats your source for this information?
Sad, but I think this will lead to huge layoffs at WholeFoods when the army of Amazon robots take over. Check out my post on this.
I wonder how lazy we can actually become
It will never replace the local bodega or corner store where the person who's been there 25 years knows exactly what you need and asks how your family's doing.
Great more Chinese garlic coming our way 😫
