Yep, I see some people that are able to make a pretty decent amount of dollars each day only by commenting. Spotting spam is luckily pretty easy; just don't upvote low quality comments, or at least give them a smaller percentage of the upvote. I don't think that writing just a few words "nice pic, pls upvote my post" will be profitable at all, but it's great to see some commenter that actually contribute to the post make some money from it.
It's easy to check if someone keeps writing the same comment everywhere. I will be checking
