Just a bit, yeah. There have been times I revealed certain things to my mom, then thought later, "Why did I tell her that?" Lol!
The difficulty is that relationship is lifelong and starts from a radically intimate but fixed role perspective. One is the mom and knows all, and one is the child and knows nothing. Over time it should naturally shift into 2 autonomous adults who live independently and respect each other, and who have this incredibly close past experience of mother and child. Problem occurs when we attach to certain phases of the process and get stuck vs letting it expand and evolve naturally. That's when we hold back for fear of discomfort.
