Storj vs Siacoin

in #money8 years ago (edited)

I have had a few replies on my Siacoin competing with Dropbox video bringing up Storj.. So I wanted to give Storj it's due diligence.

Now I've actually had both for a minute, but it seems like Storj was already leveling out whereas Siacoin is just getting started..

I've researched both and both seem great.. I don't think either one will dominate though, but I do think they will share a place in the cloud storage market.

Is there any reason that anyone would think either is better than the other?

This isn't a winner-take-all market, so both might succeed. Storj seems to advertise object storage, which to me seems like it might be well suited for web-applications. They also have very nice professional looking frontend appkications. The SIA guys seem to be very professional and their application already works. Lets see how they do the marketing.

Completely agree on the marketing. Sia needs to employ a BDM and hit marketing hard. Storj.io/share is a great opportunity to contribute to the project and it's pretty much out-the-box easy set up for normal window users which is HUGE.

Overall, worldwide spending on cloud storage is predicted to hit $141B by 2019 (source FORBES) . "YES, I READ THAT RIGHT ... $141 billion USD". Bring-it-on...

Exactly so room for everybody :D

Storj have a more modular approach & Seems a bit more technically solid.

Good point but I should note that Sia was quick to respond when I needed help on Twitter..

I want Friendly competition.

I think Sia has the much better Tech. Storj runs on NXT which makes it awful slow sometimes. Storj looks better on the outside then on the inside.

You are wrong man. Storj tokens are accounted using Counterparty on top of Bitcoin.

No relations to NXT

I feel Sia is a like a sleeping beast. I'm holding for the long haul and feel that it'll give up x10 profit when it does pump. It'll hit 180 sats this year for sure.

Still holding both Storj and Counterparty though as a safe hedge.

Is the relation to NXT explained somewhere? I never heard of that

Interesting blog. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. No matter how populair a coin is. People should always do a proper background check. It surprises me how many coins are out there that don't have their basics right. Personally I always use: https://www.coincheckup.com They researched and analyzed every tradable coin out there.
