RE: Re: Credit Card Scammers: Street Gangs on the Dark Web

in #money7 years ago

Vice did a great story about the whole carding movement going on in rap, on social media, etc.

One inaccuracy I think carders themselves as well as people in general have is they are fucking over the banks and the banks are always ripping us off so fuck them right? Yeah doesn't really work that way, they are actually screwing over fellow hustlers and Entrepreners, not that you can really call a carder an Entrepreneur.

These guys say people aren't liable for fraud so they report it and they don't pay the bank has plenty of money blah blah blah.

Well in reality ecommerce sellers and merchants like myself wind up holding the bag. A carder buyers $1,000 worth of dildos from me, just an example I don't really sell dildos. A month later the card owner realizes oh shit someone bought $1,000 worth of wooden dildos on my card...who the fuck would buy a wooden dildo sounds like asking for splinters, but beyond that I didn't even buy these wooden dildos.

Card holder calls up the bank and says hey Wells Fargo there's $1,000 charge to the wooden dildo factory on my card, I didn't buy these. Bank says well frank clearly you didn't buy these wooden dildos we'll credit your money back. It does not however end there with the bank taking $1,000 loss for said wooden dildos.

What winds up happening next is I get a letter in the mail from my merchant processor, frank says he didn't buy $1,000 in wooden dildos. I say yeah he did I have an order from him and I shipped 1000 wooden dildos to him. Credit card company investigates, while franks card and billing address were used the wooden dildos went to an address in a differnt state they realize it wasn't frank and they pull the $1,000 out of that days credit card batchouts for me or out of my bank account.

The carder now has 1000 of my wooden dildos, the bank has taken the money back from me and given it to frank and on top of that the bank charges me $37 for a chargeback so the bank isn't getting screwed they are actually profiting, its me the poor small businesman selling wooden dildos who is the one taking it in the butt.

I think carders and the general public doesn't understand this
