Is Money Irrelevant?

in #money7 years ago

Money as a medium of exchange runs into a wall if you have the technical means to produce an abundance of all necessary things for high standards of living for all the worlds people. In such a case, what is there to exchange?

It's not that items produced have no value, they have a natural resource value, but not a trade value. If every man, woman and child has access to abundantly produced food, the food has value in that it sustains life, but it has no trade value because everyone has free access to it, like we all currently have free access to air to breathe.

Humanity invented money during a time of scarcity and mandatory human labor to do work (of any variety), when it was truly needed, but now we live in a time when we can produce abundance without the need for human labor in a highly efficient, sustainable and long lasting manner thanks to computers, robotics, automation, advanced materials and science/engineering practices.

Money is pointless now and will become more irrelevant as we wake up to the fact that for the first time in human history, we are living in a paradigm of abundance, not scarcity. We just aren't producing abundance because money literally restricts it.

Money will not always exist, because nothing "always" exists, especially man made constructs that have long since become pointless. It's time to stop using archaic systems in the 21st century and realize we now have the capability to do much more, but need a upgraded system, society 2.0, to accomplish it.

it is completely possible to enable every man, woman and child on this planet to live a high tech, amazing quality of life.

As for energy, forget oil. We don't need it anymore for a lot of what it's used for, including energy and material uses. Space based solar, terrestrial solar, wind, wave, geothermal and hydrogen fuel cell technologies are more than capable of working together to energize this planet for all time, but we are doing a terrible job of ENGINEERING our society to be as efficient as possible.

It's time to use the scientific method for social concern, and do things the right way, clean, efficient and engineered to be the best for all people...not just a select few.
