Regarding the Fourth Turning, it may have been in one of Strauss & Howe's other books, but there's a historical anomaly is US History where one of the 4 "seasons" didn't occur and this was after the Civil War. This is explained (away) as an anomaly, but maybe it debunks their theory. (I am nonetheless a fan of the theory). The authors also predicted that Millennials were destined to be (in) a "Hero" cycle akin to the GI (later called the "Greatest," thanks Brokaw) Generation... this may still come to pass, I think Millennials are just late bloomers and will really start to get their ish together as the Boomers fade from the scene.
The twenty year cycles aren't set in stone, they are more like twenty-ish. I agree with you that 2001 was a significant year.. maybe beginning year. Millennials were so named because they began being born in 1982 and they'd be the first graduating class of 2000. Strauss and Howe believe that these cycles begin with significant events... lately "significant" events occur every year, but if you go back to say 1941 Pearl Harbor, 1961 Kennedy/Peace Corps, 1981 Ronald Reagan and 2001 9/11 you can create a pattern. Maybe expect something in 2021 after a new President is inaugurated???
Possibly.
Good series. I don't always agree, but sometimes things align. I admire your diligence and passion. Cheers.
