Make Money While Traveling = Possible (Part 1)

You can quit your 9-5 and still make money and travel at the same time! It sounds crazy, but I know it’s possible because I'm doing it!

Now notice, I said you can quit your 9-5, this doesn’t mean you’ll make money without working at all. You still gotta work, sorry. But you can work less, leaving more time for travel and fun!

I’m doing this article in parts so you don’t get bombarded with so much info you don’t know where to start.

First, i’ll do a quick recap of why I’m writing this. I was born in Michigan and grew up to think I needed to be a nurse or engineer to live comfortably and hopefully when I retire I have enough money to do what I really wanted and travel. (And p.s. there’s nothing wrong with that!) After a few years of not fitting in having a creative degree, I jumped into being an entrepreneur. I am a bit of a jack of all trades including: graphic designer, photographer, digital/social media marketing, and others. The great thing is, even if you don’t already have these skills, you can learn many of these skills online to work an online job. No extra college schooling necessary. 

Here are a few jobs you can do while working remotely:

Graphic Designer

Social Media Consultant

Content Writer

I could write more, but I highly recommend those concentrations for your best bet to get work. Biggest one I'll talk about now - DEVELOPER!! If you already dabble in coding and like it - DO IT AS YOUR JOB. So many people are looking for developers and you will always have a demand for work and have high potential to make good money in a short amount of time. It’s insane. I wish I would do more development, but I am not as detail oriented and think it’s boring looking at code (that's just me).

I highly recommend before you do decide to quit your job you try to save up some “just in case” money. I decided to take the leap and had money saved up in case work slowed down. How much to save? That depends on where you are going and how long you’d like to be gone. I have no end in sight for how long I’m traveling for so I go with the flow. I was in SE Asia for 5 months and I can tell you, you can get housing for around $500/month and eat daily for about $10 USD. You do the math. 

I know what you’re thinking, this is a high risk to quit your job, of course it is. But if you lost your job today, what would you do? You could look for other work, learn a new trade, and if you had to put some expenses on a card or ask for help. You would survive. You always survive!
