Money is it the root of all evil?

in #money2 years ago

There is a phrase the love of money is the root of all evil. Perhaps it comes from the fact than many evil acts are done for the purpose of aquiring more money. It's interesting that charging interest was a sin. The dislike by some for the Jews has some roots in this sin. Jewish money lenders were not bound by the same rules or laws and they sat on seats called banks to offer finance with interest.

Some of the earliest uses of money was as a form of compensation to deal with the ever increasing circle of violence that is caused by following that old bible adage of an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.

The definition of money is: Money is an item or medium of exchange that is accepted by people for the payment of goods and services [1], as well as the repayment of loans. Money typically serves as a medium of exchange, a unit of account, and a store of value. Money is generally accepted by general consent as a medium of economic exchange and is used in transactions such as buying [2], selling, and trading goods and services. Money can take many forms, such as cash, coins, credit, and digital currencies.

Coins were first used as a form of money around 650 to 600 BCE in what is now modern-day Turkey and Greece [1]. The earliest known coins were made from electrum, an alloy of gold and silver. These coins were stamped with symbols or images, and were used to pay armies, to pay taxes, and to buy and sell goods and services. The use of coins spread throughout the world, becoming more and more widespread until it became the default way to conduct transactions in most countries.

Evil or not money in some form is here to stay. It is very untilitarian and performs many functions. I think its useful to remeber that the money system is all made up. Looking at the curretn system it seems to me to be made up in a very unfair way.

The capture of capital in so few hands is a recipe for further disaster.

Ive recetnly come across this guy in the uk, Gary, fomrer trader and clever guy from a working class background, who has some really interesting things to say about money wealth and the systems of finance that enslave many of us.
