I believe that one of the major factors affecting home ownership currently is a demographic one. With the leading edge of 80 million millennials just a few years away from entering home buying age we should begin to see a rebound of those numbers over the next decade.
As hard as it is to believe in the millennial generation currently with their high student debt and unconventional views related to their roles in society. I believe they to will follow the typical path followed by generations before them. They will begin to spend and earn more and much of that will be directed to housing as their earning power increases.
In the end the market will adjust to the coming demand.
