Marketing has been actively developing for more than a century, and since that time, the leaders of this industry have been able to surprise not only their employers, but also ordinary users, catching them with their fishing rods. So for the last century, many well-known companies today used rather unusual marketing moves to attract consumers' attention. And this is not just the story of Coca-Cola and Santa Claus, which probably everyone knows about. This and other interesting solutions that can and do apply even today.

  1. Increase the price

Usually, when entering the market, companies prefer to choose a reduced price strategy to attract the attention of buyers, but this is not always the right way out. This, in time, was understood by two well-known companies today: the Timberland shoe brand and the energy drink Red Bull.

The legend of Timberland says that buyers came to the shoe store, saw that the goods were of very high quality, but with a low price and refused to buy it, looking for this trick. Only when the price of shoes increased, buyers trusted and sales went up.

With Red Bull everything is much more interesting. Launching a new product on the market, the company realized that they have quite strong competitors, so to attract attention, the drink was not only characterized as a completely new product, but the tactic of increasing the price was also chosen. If for a can of Coca-Cola the consumer had to lay out, for example, $ 2 then for a jar of Red Bull all $ 5, simply because it is an "energy drink" with its own special properties that are not found in ordinary soda.

  1. Twice as much as the product used in advertising

One of the most cunning tricks of marketers, which is used to this day. The most obvious example of using the scheme "twice the amount of the consumed product" is advertising chewing gum. "Two, as in advertising" is a simple trick. In fact, in order to use this product for its intended use, you only need one cushion.

The reason for using two at once lies in the fact that it looks more aesthetically pleasing in advertising, and also because this way the consumer uses the product faster and will soon return for buying a new one.

The same scheme was chosen for themselves Alcoseltser: in advertising, they immediately throw two effervescent tablets in a glass. In addition, two tablets are depicted on the package itself. In fact, one tablet is enough to eliminate the headache.

  1. Guinness Book of Records

    Quite an interesting marketing move in its time applied the company Guinness. Trying to attract attention, they created an annual magazine, where they collected records set by people. At first, various facts gathered there, and soon began to record other records. Thus, the "Guinness Book of Records" has become quite popular and some do not even trace the connection between it and the beer brand.

  2. Free lunch for hairdressers

    One of the most interesting ways we left last, let's say, on dessert. The legend of this method says that in a certain town the man decided to open his own restaurant, but did not know how to attract attention to him without using advertising. The trick is that until now one of the best methods of promotion is "word of mouth", according to a similar method works well known to all viral advertising, but now it's not about that.

Enterprising businessman invited to a free dinner in his new restaurant all the hairdressers of the city, and they, of course, gladly agreed. Why hairdressers? Because almost all the inhabitants of the town go to it! And also because they like to talk. Thus, the news of the new location was almost completely delivered to many people.
