Fortnite merchandising store allows payments using Monero

Despite the lack of an official announcement, crypto Twitter and Reddit are talking about the latest Monero payment use case: purchasing the trendiest Fortnite clothing on the game’s official merchandising store.

I have checked the rumor and it appears to be true, with no apparent geographical restrictions, at least for Europe and the United States:

Monero users will probably be delighted to be able to get a skull trooper pullover hoodie or a durr burger onesie (available for pre-order now!):

The unannounced payment solution could very well trigger hopes for a further integration between the massively large Fortnite community and cryptocurrencies, as it already uses V-Bucks as an in-game currency.

Monero payments on the Fortnite merchandising store are to be performed by the Swiss platform Globee, which also seems to provide similar solutions for Bitcoin, Ethereum, BCH, Ripple, Litecoin, Dogecoin or Decred. They offer different packages, starting with free accounts where a 1% commission is charged on transactions, to enterprise or non-profit ones where transactions are exempt from charges.

Reactions on social media have been very positive towards the news, with many Monero enthusiasts cheering the latest adoption milestone.
