Good post again lexiconical. Without comments and interaction we may as well be individuals just shouting into the ether.
I really don't like your Colbert quote though. I'll take logic over respect for authority any day and was always brought up to question things and be a critical thinker. Considering some of your other posts I am a bit surprised that one got through your filter :)
Keep up the good work.
"I really don't like your Colbert quote though."
The idea of the Colbert character is that he is satirical. The point of that quote is that it is supposed to sound idiotic.
"I am a bit surprised that one got through your filter :)"
Physician, heal thyself!
Thanks for stopping in, as always. =)
I don't watch Colbert so I am not really familiar with his satire and I have misunderstood the context you had placed the quote. Since you were introducing an arbitrary rule I thought you were endorsing it. My bad.
PS - I had to look up your bible quote too. Some references maybe don't translate well for foreign cultures :)
The bible quote (which I find deliciously ironic) adorns the wall of the 30 Rockefeller building, under a frieze of Zeus. I took that as my blog theme:
I've actually been there and found the place to be fairly unmemorable. Though maybe I didn't have the right tour guide ;)
It's just a building, but I like the picture, the quote, and I'm a big fan of the show "30 Rock" which takes place almost entirely within the building. I also used to live up there, go ice skating there, etc.
that takes me back to some great times
My ice skates get a lot less use in FL.
Oh, I forgot about this one, it's an all-time great. Even the government didn't get that he was satirical:
"Colbert Roasts Bush @ White House Dinner"
This is actually pretty impressive (he's got balls!). I don't get a lot of the gags at the end because I am not familiar with a lot of the people, but I get it now. Satire can be hard to pick up when taken out of context. Most of the comedy we get here coming out of the US is in the form of sitcoms so sophisticated US humour can be hard to come by here. (I actually wasn't even sure it existed!) :p

Hah, you got me grinning. Rest assured it's pretty tough to find here, too.
You may have noticed I've had to explain a few jokes in the captions here and there to increase the chance they would land for everyone...
PS - I shudder to think at the conclusions if we were judged by our sitcoms.
I've travelled a bit and culturally we are not that different in the West (especially the English speaking countries) but I have noticed that humour IS noticably different, just like accents are. British, American, Australian and New Zealand all have different styles of humour that can take some getting used to.
I don't mean to sound snobby but the US exports a LOT of crappy sitcoms so perception of US humour where I am from at least is not great.

How dare you speak ill of Friends! Or...Big Bang Theory!
Believe it or not, there are a lot of people in the US who did not realize the entire Stephen Colbert show (the Colbert Report) was satirical. The character, the positions they took, the entire script was basically a joke.
You might want to start at 1m if the link doesn't do that automatically:
"My message of core conservative principles mixed with youth-friendly product placement...(chugs a Bud Light)"
"The uploader has not made this video available in your country"
Interesting....I had to go looking for it and eventually found it here :-

Got a few laughs so job done.
Ack, I hate that error. I thought I was usually the one seeing it, being stuck in the US with more copyright BS.
