Hello, Guys today I'm going to talk about ranking, We always been told that we are minnows and others are whales. Today, I am going to show you a very easy way to tell what level you are. Here, we learn the truth about Steemit rankings and the ability to have an impact on your single vote. Before we claim that we are Minnow, let's check first where this ranking came first or is it official. To learn what rank we are is the key to motivate us to do better. To accept the truth will make us grow.
Ranking
- Vests = Steem power
- Think of MVests = 1 million vests
- Vests are what determines your rank in the sea
How to check your Vests?
Go to Steemd.com/@YourUserName
On the top-right you will see your vests.
How much is 1 Mvests at the moment?
- Using the Vests Calculator at
http://www.steemdollar.com/vests.php - 1 MVests = 488.6 Steem tokens
- 488.6 Steem = $2,947 USD at the moment
Plankton
Plankton is considered the lowest rank in Steemit. They are likely someone who just joined Steemit. When I first joined Steemit, I thought I was a minnow but the fact was I was nothing near a minnow but a plankton! 99% of the planktons on Steemit do not know that they are planktons. You need 1 Million Vests to become a minnow.
How to evolve from Plankton to a Minnow?
- Create good quality content and earn rewards.
- Invest by buying STEEM and power up to Steem power
- Curate Content and earn rewards.
Minnow
Minnows are often described as the small fish on Steemit. They are users with a small amount of Steem power. One of their votes may add less than a cent to your account. Even though minnows are new with low voting power, they are still important. Thousands of minnows can combine to create the power of the whale.
Dolphin
Dolphins are people with 10 million vests. They are users with a medium amount invested in the platform. One of their votes can add a few cents or a dollar to your account. Dolphins are well established and potentially become an orca or a whale someday. Dolphins earn curation rewards by voting on posts that will become popular and that will be voted on by the Whales so they want to move in and vote before the Whales come in.
Orca
An Orca is a user who is big enough to qualify as a big whale but has less Steem power than the bigger whale. Orcas are people with 100 million vests. A single vote by an Orca can put ten to twenty dollars to your payout.
Whale
Whales are known as the king of the sea. Whales are people with 1,000 million vests and up. A single vote by a whale can put hundreds of dollars in people's account instantly. Whales have the biggest influence on posts. Their votes have a big effect on which posts get attention and which posts make the most money.
Steemit is like an ocean, diverse and colorful. Steem power is not the only power you have, you have so much more to offer, you are unique, there is room for all of us in Steemit. Over time, the successful content creators will rise to the top and become the whales. Good luck guys!
Finally a simple post where I can clearly understand the ranking info. I'm gonna keep it. Thank you
Exactly.Simple and Clear.Thx for mentioning steemd.com,that was new for me.
@knight-fury Your welcome. I used steemd daily
I couldn't find much info about ranking so I decided to do one.
I thought I was a minnow, too, but thanks to the enlightenment you've provided, I find that I am 'less'! :) But you know, we are all part of one ecosystem. We are all interconnected and without the plankton, the whales would starve! But we plankton can dream of migrating to the other end of the spectrum!
AHaha sorry about that. I'm sure you will be a whale soon :)
it was a very enlightening article. perfect thank you
You're very welcome, since your reputation is so low let me help you by upvoting
:)) Thank you very much. I do not support nobody here. follow your letters
Your helpful and willing to share as always, your previous posts've helped plan my strategy to steemit and I’m implementing it bit by bit.
Post resteemed.
You have my respect. Kudos.
great post
@tonyeng your welcome!
I'm glad it was helpful. comments like this keep me going. Thank you! @prch
Invaluable advice thanks again @vaansteam learning all the time, and much quicker with your help! Also enjoying getting back into creative writing, although my output is a little low....my 2 year old daughter enjoys 'Daddy time' too much (and so do I!). Be happy & smile often my friend :)
@lumpa I really do appreciate the support. You should get back to what you do best! Enjoy your time with your family :) Keep smiling!
Done ;)
Very enlightening post, you have been able to clear some difficulties i once had in understanding how the voting process works. Thanks @vaansteam
Thanks again for the support @bateren I hope to continue making content and help the community
Danke für diese wertvollen Informationen. Hilft das System zu verstehen.
:) Thank you
I find the voting system on Steemit to be fascinating. I think there are certain blogs on the platform that do nothing else other than analyse how the voting system works and the most effective way to harpoon a vote from a whale. Great post, with some very interesting and useful content. I look forward to reading more of your posts.
I saw that too. But it's also a good idea to get the whale on your side. Just create good content and you will see it growing without you go chasing after it. Good luck to you!
That is definitely the plan. I find Steemit a great platform that is easy to use where I can create my blog content. I am then about to share my blog posts to wider audiences through facebook, twitter, google+, etc. I have a few passions that I like to write and blog about, so I will continue to do that and if I receive a few decent upvotes or resteems along the way then that would be awesome, but you are right, it is important not to loose focus on the intent of the Steemit and not focus on ways to game the voting system.
This is very informative. From zero knowledge, now I know what the rankings are. Honestly, I have no idea about it, until I read your article. Thank you so much for sharing! I'm a fan. Followed you already sir.
@itsmechille . I'm glad it was helpful. Thank you for the support. Have a blessed day my friend!
You too sir! Looking forward to seeing more of your articles. Take care. Thanks!
Thanks for the info and the motivation. Ill be a whale in no time.
Yes I think you will @normok
Thanks for the post! I thought I was a minnow but now know I am just plankton. lol. But just like the real marine ecosystem we serve an essential role. We are producers (e.g. Phytoplankton ) because we are able to make our own food. Phytoplankton are the most abundant and widespread producers in the marine environment and remember Whales and others you would not be around without us.
Cheers!
Right , plankton is very important. There’s wouldn’t be any Whales or sea animals. So I hope u don’t feel so bad. Smile!
Hey thanks for the upvote! My first upvote from someone (other then mine). But have only been on for 3 days. lol
I thought I was a minnow, but now I know I am a plankton! I am enjoying Steemit very much so far though. So instead of thinking about how insignificant I am on here, I'm just going to keep on learning and exploring. In the last couple days I have gotten 5 friends to sign up and are waiting for their passwords. Hopefully this platform grows exponentially this year!
@emmyem84 Not just you so don't feel bad. We keep learning and building yourself and you will get there. Glad that you bring your friends. Steem is going to take over soon. It was only at 3 dollars now it's at 6 so it's growing pretty fast.
I saw the sbd you sent, thank you! What a nice surprise! 🙈
Thanks @vaansteam for this one ! UPVOTE 👌
Thank you @dalexx
Hi wow... Didnt know about plankton. Haha ill check my vests.
And u make art too. Very nice!
Actually, you're already there. you just need to convert some of your SbD to Steem and you're there! Yes I make art too, come check out sometimes :)
yes i will hehe :) yea have to convert some more steempower.
G'day @vaansteam I was wondering about what you had said to me of editing causing 'exceeded bandwidth limit'. I googled some confusion, and asked my IT boy. He tells me that occasionally when he researches 3D language queries, he comes across sites where he cannot access the info because of the prompt, exceeded bandwith limit. Now in most sites he says the bandwidth limit is ascribed by that site host. Which I assume is the first whales in steemit. I have seen this a number of times, even when writing a short post such as my last in reply to you. Google said alot of bandwidth is used by HD photos, and when I think of my posts and how I'm always being reminded that pix work well, I could see how that might be, but in my case that of pix rarely can have an effect. My IT boy said much bandwidth can be used by other users downloading from one's posts, which in my case would tell me that many more are viewing than are voting, which is alright too, if they take away any learning. But, my purpose here is to ask how Steemit deals with 'exceeding bandwidth limits', what are the limits¿ can they be exceeded by visitors to my posts¿ Do visitors to my posts also find this prompt telling them there is no access until later? And, if as you say, it is my editing, which I find I need to do because the posts are about grammar in language, then when should I edit? Silly question I know, -before I post 😂
But, can you point me at a post about bandwidth limits on steemit.com please, or post one for such as I. Thank-you.
Good day to you too @simon62 and sorry for the slow reply. I'm glad you got the answer you're looking for. I don't think visitors going to your post will see that. Another way is to invest in Steem so you will have more bandwidth.
Very information as usual @vaansteam. I really appreciate you doing this. It has helped me immensely.
Thank you @tryskele I really appreciate your support!
thats a really helpfull post, helped me to sort out a bit what is going on here:D
@inkeles I'm glad it helps you sort out a bit. Good luck to you on the platform. See you around :)
finally I have seen the best explanation about the rankings
Thank you so much for that @coderzairos
Thankyou for that information. I learned something today because of you. 😊
Your welcome @gwenbyyy Thanks again for the support!
Thank you @vaansteam for upvote i follow your all post are ammazing thank you
@johnelia Thank you so much for all your support!
I definitely have a long... like loooooooong way to go!! Thanks for the sharing!
@connie1018 I have a long way too but we got this. Whales in 2019!
Something starts from a small thing first. everything will grow by itself unless something is a fixed thing. We are like a small fish that can move to and fro no wonder if one day will be great by itself can be due to consume various things that bring impact to our growth.
That's right thank you for this! @nurviana94
When I learned a few weeks ago I was lowly plankton, my tummy kinda went thud. Talk about being on the bottom of the food chain. I have developed the idea that the other creatures need plankton to survive. We are important to the entire system. Steem on!
Don't be too sad. Without plankton there's no Steemit. Don't forget a whale start off being a plankton! @warpedweaver
I added the SteemPlus extension and one of the fun things is how it adds the level badge onto a user's profile when viewing.
I had thought I was at least a minnow by now, but sadly find I am still a plankton. Oh, the disillusionment! ;)
Hahaha. dissillusionment. Love that word
it's a funny word
Hahaha the truth might hurt but it's better for the truth than comforted with a lie. @ravenruis
Truth! lol
Before, I thought I am a minnow but after reading your post I came to know that I am not a minnow yet. My goal was to become a Dolphin in few months. Now, I have changed my goal to becoming a minnow first.... :))
Thanks for the tip !! nice one!!
Thank you @alexandrumuraru

=(
You will be a whale soon my friend! @micloop
Nice sharing sir.godbless keep it up!
Thank you! Have a nice day @patzedder3rickz
Or if you're too lazy to compute, log.in to busy.org , top right shows what level you are(plankton, minnow, etc)
Yes, that is another way. Thanks for pointing that out but it doesn't tell you the vests number @jlordc
thank you
