Great initiative, @inquiringtimes!

I haven't personnaly welcomed many newcomers since I'm still a newcomer myself.

However, I would like to encourage you to check our what @doodlebear is doing - he has composed an extremely informative welcome message that he sends to selected newbies. You can find the examples here and here.
