Above is a selfie with the legend that is Tony Beets. Dawson City main stay and Yukon vet, Tony has pretty much seen it all. This is the man behind the land. This guy knows his gold mining!
It was pretty cool having my morning coffee with this gent. Learning about the show and the entire process they have had with the Discovery Channel was interesting and sad all at the same time. To find out the entire crew has spent years making a "scripted" reality series was just the begining of my let downs lol.
They have a gem in Tony though. The main problem he has with the crew (imo) is this; he can show them how to really mine for gold and bring in outrageous amounts to brag about, but DC doesn't find that marketable.
I did stumble into a few other crew members while in the area, but Tony was the one that always stuck out before and after our encounter. Thanks Tony for taking the time out to buy me coffee and letting me pick your brain.
