Who is in Control of Your Emotions ?

in #mindset6 years ago (edited)

Dear beloved Steemians.

I am opening a new series of short posts with powerful information. It is so that I do understand what matters to you, dear Steemians, so I can shape the content to your loving and write more in depth.

I therefore encourage you to engage with me and criticize my content to further challenge my knowledge.

This is my second post on Steem and I have chosen to address the essence of human emotions.

For all of you asking yourself: well, how do I master my emotions? It is not that simple.
Emotions are very good at what they are and will always trick you.
One of the fundamentals to detect your emotions is to realize... that they are actually not you. They are emerging on a subconscious level, hardwired into our genes, necessary for survival. It is only when they appear that we can sense them and choose how to manage them..
That's why all spiritual gurus say that you have to accept them... It's because you can not avoid their emergence. By suppressing emotions we can make more harm than good on the long run.
Therefore, acceptance can help you loose the tension and release them as energy flow through the body.

Let's get practical now!
What happens when you are angry and try to suppress that and stop being angry? You get angry at yourself for being angry and get even more angry. It is the never ending loop of self amplification. Get away from people and break it by beating the cr*p of your pillow.😠🥵🤯🥴😇🥳

Keep sensing, let your emotions flow, release that condensed ball of energy and enjoy the peace. 🕊️

Hi and welcome here! When I started on steemit, my biggest problem was to find interesting people to interact with. So, to help newcomers getting started I created a directory with other interesting and or talented steemians to follow or interact with. Feel free to check it out at https://www.steemiandir.com I am sure it will help you find like-minded people. Enjoy your stay here and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!

Hi there you have chosen a good topic but you have not met the right teachers it seems to tell you about emotions and what they are and how to deal with them if they become uncontrolled.

You can and must control the emotions if you want to succeed in life and more importantly if you want to transcend. It doesn't mean block the emotions or deny them artificially but it does mean discipline the mind, intelligence and ego. If you want more proper info to educate yourself and others then I recommend reading more books, particularly Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Sanskrit text on yoga and meditation. There it tells you all about the emotions and the mind, which it says is more difficult to control than the wind, but by the sword of knowledge one can slay the enemies of bad emotions like anger, greed, lust, envy, even sorrow. Polluting emotions like these are the symptom of an uncontrolled mind based on lack of knowledge about how to harness the mind, use the sword of the intelligence based on knowledge. Your direction is correct, now you just need to improve your aim and depth of insight by studying more. Let me know how it goes.

Hey man, I much appreciate your feedback. I agree that I might have caused some confusion by oversimplifying on such a big topic of human emotions.
Of course you could develop yourself to the point where you can easily manage your emotions, otherwise writing about emotions would not even make sense.
What I meant in the article is that emotions occur on a subconscious level, it is only when they appear that we can detect them and choose how to manage them.
Thank you for pointing it out, I will make sure to update the post. This is an introductory article aimed to find people interested in topics of human nature and provide a small tip. I will be talking more about the mind, willpower and energy in the future posts, as that better resembles my expertise. Thanks for the book recommendation, I will check it out.

Wonderful, much needed input.

Welcome to steemit @tribalwolf.

Welcome the new steemians. Have a great day!

Thank you for inspiring me to write more about emotions. I actually feel that emotions are an important part of our human experience , arising from the wisdom of nature, and our much larger subconscious brain. We have unfortunately been taught that emotions are harmful and that we need to control and dominate them in order to evolve. I feel this perspective has arisen out of the disconnect between the logical mind (5% or our brain) and the subconscious (95% of our brain, including the whole rest of the body). This disconnect happens typically as a result of a severe trauma and I feel that humanity as a species experienced such a trauma, an earth wide cataclysm, that caused us to disconnect from the subconscious collectively and develop trauma based coping mechanisms that have resulted in our current state of disharmony with nature and each other.

I feel that transcendence based practices simply encourage this trauma based disassociation with our bodies, emotions, and nature, to the continued detriment of all.

As we are learning what truly helps trauma victims to heal, we are discovering that body centered practices that encourage us to feel our emotions and receive the wisdom contained within them help to free us from repeating the cycle of trauma over and over again.

In my work I help people to understand what their emotions are trying to tell them so they can use that energy as a catalyst for change in their lives and in the world. I teach embodiment focused spiritual practices that bring the beauty of our spiritual purpose and identity into our human physical form, healing the patterns of suffering that have been programmed into our cells for generations, and awakening our capacity to create a spirit filled existence her on Earth.

There are many Earth based spiritual lineages to learn from, however they have unfortunately been persecuted violently for many generations. But they are so powerful, that despite this persecution, they remain strong and full of wisdom to teach us if we want to return to a life in harmony with our bodies and nature.

I look forward to your reflections on this.

Indeed - emotions are the mental content trying to give us a message. But the reactive mind (5%) (or as Buddha calls it Shankhara) is so predominant that it overpowers 95% which tries to understand the msg. As Buddha puts it “Sabe dhammo bedana samo sarana” - everything that arises in the mind flows as sensations in the body - and Vipasanna meditation meditation tries to observe those body sensation without judgement (with equanimity). I like your take on this @samamorningstar and have followed you.🧘🏼‍♂️🧘🏼‍♂️🧘🏼‍♂️

Hey @samamorningstar , emotions are super important. They represent half of our personalities, aside the thinking mind. They are here making our lives exciting! Without them we could not get rewarded by happiness, punished by guilt or kept safe by fear by our bodies for taking actions.
Fear as it is, is an important barrier that ensures that only the bravest souls get to influence the world. If fear would not exist, chaos would rule the world. It gives us meaning and a challenge for us, to develop ourselves and grow stronger than pain caused by fear. Finally when we are ready to stand out and speak for ourselves, facing fear directly into eyes, is when we feel fulfilled.
The collective trauma is a result of many years of torture, to which many defensive mechanisms were constructed by our genes. It is something we all have to embrace as it is and carry on forward, with our power focused.
For a collective healing I find learning on how to preserve our power, as well as ways how we dissipate it on a daily basis essential regain our strength focus. Much energy is needed for many generations for a healing of that scale. But interestingly, every change begins with an individual. I will be writing about fear and energy focus points soon more in depth.

It is great to hear you are specialized in embodiment. It is a topic I find a great interest in and would like to read some of your future articles about it.
